1. I don't think an '85 will have split circuit brakes. That's '86-up. clintogf has an '85 and it's a single circuit system.
2. Many of your recent questions about the late model trucks either have answers in pre existing threads or they (the questions) belong in threads that already exist...
The guy listing the truck came up with the description.
How?
Who knows. Maybe he is an ASE Master Tech with a diesel certification and he verified the leak is a cracked head.
Maybe he saw coolant underneath the truck and guessed.
Maybe he has a friend who wants to bid and he said it has a...
Welcome to the site, P51.
I enjoyed reading the story of how you got your Jeep ("that Jeep Lt." rofl).
You'll find an amazing amount of info on deuces and CUCV's here. You should just start reading old threads in the deuce and CUCV forums and spend a few weeks reading up. You'll be an...
There is absolutely nothing about them that is better with 2 (possible) exceptions:
1. There are three years (86-88? 87-89?) that have dual circuit brakes if it is a USAF truck. The brakes don't work any better, they are just slightly safer in that it's a dual circuit system. Good luck...
Ask them to pull up any 1969 Plymouth in their system and see how many it has. FYI it's 13.
The "standardized" 17 digit VIN did not begin until 1981-prior to that, there was no standard.
Most any vehicle prior to the Seventies or Eighties will have far less than 17.
Of course, this won't do...
Lowriderbird, I appreciate you keeping us updated on your restoration project. Although we are light on CCKW/US6 owners here (as opposed to the G) there are many of us who like them as well as a few owners.
I love your project- I can't wait to see it when it's done.

BK is a true lover of MV's-he's had one of just about everything and can peak with pretty decent authority on the pros and cons of each. I wish he lived closer to us so we could pester him at more rallies. :p

There are several posts within that thread that discuss the 2011 event and several posts that have links to the 2010 picture and video thread.
We would love to meet you, it's a fun rally. I enjoy it a...

The Ouverson is the way to fly but they stick out a lot further than the AVM or the selectros.

No-I do not think the military serial numbered the engines to the chassis' like the private sector does. Matching #s refers to the engine's serial # matching the vehicle's VIN. The information tag (data plate) on the passenger side of a multi only tells you who made it, when, which version it...
I think it's safe to say that looking at your 19XX truck and saying it has a 19XX engine probably has no bearing on what it came with or the time period(s) the three engine manufacturers of multifuels (Hercules, White & Continental) were building them due to the frequency of the military...
That's interesting that it doesn't look like it's CARC'd-it looks like the old olive drab. I think Brad900's truck was the same. I thought everything modern used the same CARC paint.
