Ok, I got in the truck to actually look at it last night compared to trying to make it start and drag 130 miles. No solar charger, bad passenger seat bottom cover and a box seat bottom for the drivers spring seat. Great cover, just doesn't fit. Which is why I had to pick it up off the floor...
If you have a loader, you will be done in a few minutes. Use the hand grabs on the back corners, the cross member under the transmission tunnel, the door hinge mounts or the hinges themselves, the windshield mounts, the little legs going down from the bottom of the cab that the front fenders...
Pull every fuse in the panel one at a time. Clean the fuse, the slot it goes into and make sure the prongs are out enough to mnake contact. Plus, everything written above with the manuals.
That is a very good point. However, like all the other vehicles. The DOD spent millions of dollars making step by step manuals for just about every aspect of driving and maintaning the truck. Get them and have at it.
I keep coming back to this. A non running 998 add with a 5 digit price...
SO, if you unplug the plugs on the side of the alternators and fire up the truck, they are still charging? That is single wire alternator stuff which requires some things inside to be changed around. You might need to pull them off and take them apart again. check each component against what the...
Didn't see a solar charger. Where was it on the truck?
Yes, the seat covers were good. The seat pads are all loose and were in a pile on the floor when we got to my place, but they look good.
The 998 will probably be worth more to a broader range of buyers if you ever have to sell in a hurry. If that is a concern. Just make sure you have a title for the 998.
With my Whistler running 10 feet away on one side and a 6.2 clanking away on the other. I was not able to hear the lift pump. I will play with it and let you know what I find.
What kind of rental car are you guys bringing? I have visions of the rear bumper dragging for 1200 miles because of...
Check the batteries and then check the starter after you fire up the truck. Put your hand on it. A very warm or hot starter is a sure sign of needing a new one.
Check all your connections on the firewall for the battery cables as well.
Another shade tree trick is this. Turn on your headlights. Try starting the truck. If the lights never dim, power is not getting to the starter. If the lights dim, power is getting to the starter and the problem...
I will mess with it some over the next week or so as time allows. I think letting the lift pump run, draining the filters and then trying to start it will probably make it run. The GSA guy was helpful, but seemed to want me gone in a hurry and I didn't want to start bleeding the filters and...
So, your problem is the slow starting?
Has your starter been rebuilt or replaced in the past 2 years? If not, then it is probably the reason for the slow spinning rpm. Your voltage numbers seem to be right on. How old are the batteries and what do they do with a load tester?
The -20 manual has a great 70 some odd page troubleshooting section. I would suggest you read that and follow the directions for just one of your problems all the way through. Keep doing this for all of the faults.
I would also suggest you remove each and every fuse from the fuse block...
Colton and I got it this morning. 260 Duece miles in a little less than 7 hours. The GSA truck pulled great but wanted to push me and my 11.00 singled truck around above 51 mph. So I kept it at 47 mph. I haven't driven that slow for so long since 2008 bringing my truck back from OKC. No...
Really depends on his prices. TSC has those wheeled ones for $29.00. A few minutes with a spray can and 99.99% of the people that see it won't know the difference.
Does your horn still work? Since the horn is tied into the black out light switch, it find it a good indicator of where to start looking. If it works, then the master light switch is getting power and in the proper position for the service lights/blinkers/brake lights to work.
Hmm, very interesting. I just so happened to get the dreaded "POP ssss" after cranking about 3 seconds on my first start attempt Thursday evening. The dog bone at one end was actually loose a little and had the white fuzzy growth on it. I could actually shake the end on the tie down post. I...
