Glad you are ok Al. Not much you can do to prevent a bad weld besides TIGing all of them before you install. Get new shoes in there, adjust them up and keep being on the look out for idiots while driving.
1 wire leaves the dimmer switch and goes to 2 lights for low and the same for hi beam. If you are getting non equal lights, then it has to be either the bulbs, the connections at the bulbs or the wires back to the dimmer switch, or the grounds. Just check everything over and over until you...
Lanty is correct about the pesky bracket needed to mount the small bucket military sealed light housing on the front of a M715. The M37, M35, M151, M38A1, Gama Goat and I don't know what all else used the same small bucket lights front and rear. They were all replaced by the big bucket lights...
Before you install it, track down some 10 bolt pto drives. I had a 202 for my M715 a few years ago and couldn't find a 10 bolt pto that wasn't a hydraulic pump drive. I wanted it to power a mechanical pto winch and ended up selling the thing.
I agree about the strength issues though. big...
I do remember the fun many of us had standing there with our hands in our pockets watching you change out tires, twice! Of course, if you had let us help like we all offered, we all could have joined in the fun.
If you do the above described test with the front axles on the trailer, you will...
Pull the power supply to the glow plug relay and see if the spark is still there when you hook/unhook the battery. If the spark is gone, then you found the area of the problem.
A stock truck uses 24V to power the glow plugs. That huge block held on by 3 bolts behind the engine on the...
Not trying to one up you, but I found out when we got back to camp that my 715 was in 2wd the entire time as well. Colton when he was driving put it in low, but not 4x4.
Unlock the hubs and crawl under the truck. The front drive shaft should turn with the tcase in 2wd. Lock in a hub. The...
I agree, that cable shorting out could be your problem.
When you hook up the batteries with the key and lights off, do you get a spark? If so, then something somewhere on the truck is shorting out.
Oh, the alternator should have been rebuilt as a 12V unit. Technically, it should be a 12...
I hate to write it, but it seems you have either the wrong one or a bad one. Take your other "new" replacement one and put it in a pot of water. Heat the pot up and use your infrared gun to see when it actually opens.
You do have the hockey puck looking one, right?
Besides the Delco site, the -34 TM also walks you through the tear down, testing and putting together of an alternator. There have been several threads on this site with all the information and pictures of this job. It is really pretty easy and once you open it up, you will see how things go...
Blue Bomber Joe,
NO. Our newly re-elected governor graciously gave us 4 hours of holiday leave for this afternoon. That means the students are all in a frenzy to get their gang messages passed, contraband hidden and such before we all go home in 34 minutes. I have the new belt sitting on...
Joe,
heh heh, we have two Joes posting in the same thread. Um, Joe in Cleveland,
I know you have way more experience with MV's than I do. However, the way you phrased your question made me think you had been drinking the dog water again. So I put the answer in very simple terms. I didn't...
It might be time to pull the gauge panel, set it on the kitchen table and trace every single contact to its bulb/gauge. Verify each one works and clean the heck out of the contacts if they don't. Clean the contacts on the big plug as well.
While you have it out, look at the ground wire on...
Joe,
24 volt truck running a 24 volt starter right?
Batteries -negative to ground and positive of bat 1 to negative bat 2. Positive bat 2 to starter.
Wait a minute. The M37 had a pedal to push that activated the starter, not a button, right? That means you need to add a button. Either a hand...
I would say to check the pink wire every inch of the way from the sender to the gauge. Also, the grounds for the gauge panel. There is a huge collection of ground wires bolted to the top of the parking brake pedal housing over on the side.
I write all of that because GM gauges historically...
