The -20 manual has a great trouble shooting section that talks you through checking just about everything on the truck that can break.
The fuel gauge section tells you to ground the sender wire at the tank, turn on the key and see what the gauge does. Needle to E means the sender is bad or...
Have you had the dash out recently? If the big power plug for the dash is just a little loose, when it moves around it will often cause one of the indicator lights to come on. At least that has been my experience putting one back in.
More than likely, it is the bad ground mentioned in the...
I agree that the truck doesn't care which one you use. I will also say that being stuck on a long slope with a big load in 3rd hi. Means you are really stuck in that gear since going up isn't going to happen and going down is going to be right at red line.
I prefer to work down to low 4th...
They are around $50 each new. I doubt you are going to find working used for less than $30 or so each.
If you are determined to get used, they are on ebay all the time. However, that extra $20 is going to seem pretty cheap once you try to fix the faded, panted over lense and corroded bulb...
The A3 or HMMWV rims will bolt right up to the A2 version of the trailer. The tires will even clear everything except the parking brake cables. You will have to lossen the cables in the handles, then unbolt the cable housing. Slide the housing back as far as you can in the clamp holding it to...
The Nostalgic Air kit is probably your best bet to have R-134A, all new parts and keep the two alternator 24V system. Anything else is going to need an alternator removed or an extra pulley added, rear battery and power strips moved and some other changes as well.
Don't forget that to get a...
The M1010 has good a/c from the factory in the ambulance body. I know of a member that has gone so far as to put a fan in the door between the cab and body to move the cold air forward. He claims 70° or less in the box but 100 plus in the front with the windows up.
Yes, a M1009 is more open...
Are you sure the transmission has oil of the proper type in it and not just a bunch of goo? Also, what rpm/road speed are you trying this down shift at?
The 25 amp generator had a huge 4 pin plug that went to the firewall mounted regulator. The "kit" we are talking about plugs into that connector and then attaches to the 60 amp alternator. That is all there is to the "kit".
Here is the "kit" wrapped around the steering column on my Gasser. It...
Multifuel harness works fine on a Gasser. Just use the flame heater wire to the coil. Everything else is the same. Now, if you are looking for Douglas fittings. Then, you have to find the correct harness. PM ZiggyO. He had some still in the wrapper.
There are also pulse pick up types that go off an injector line. It can be done. The problem is that no matter which way you do it. the cost is going to be double to triple that of putting a tach on a gasoline engine.
No I don't know if that kit will work. Here is a thread about the hand throttle I added a few months ago:
http://www.steelsoldiers.com/cucv/53916-cucv-hand-throttle.html
Is that the same basic thing as the kit you are talking about?
Just to add a few more comments. I finally collected all the parts needed to check rpm. My idle was at 800 rpm and the high idle was at 1100 rpm. Factory specs are 650 rpm idle and 800 fast idle. I turned it down and now the thing lopes and shudders and such sometimes at idle. I have found...
I also did it on my M35 Gasser. Very easy plug and play kit. You might have to swap the pulleys around depending on where your alternator came from. Same shaft size between the generator and alternator though, so 5 seconds with an impact gun to get the nut loose and maybe a puller to get the...
