    mult fuel or cummins

It depends upon personal taste. Do you want to represent the Vietnam era? If so, a multi would be better. If you don't care about that, and the prices are the same, I'd take the M809 truck over an M39 any day of the week (assuming they are equal in mechanical and physical qualities). If the...

    The 10 ton mack M125

That is a beautiful truck. I once owned an M125 and, personally, I never had a truck that was less fun to drive. It was cool to talk about, cool to show off to people and cool to look at it...it was terrible to drive. Shifting is tough...you do get the hang of it...but not very well for as...

Any photo's of an M51 with rear cargo cover fitted?

I really hope to have my M929 there. I might only have the two M925A2s there. I'll have to see. I can't wait to see your M817, though. I really like them and wish I never sold mine.

Any photo's of an M51 with rear cargo cover fitted?

Cabell: I'm glad you took pics of my old dump with the cargo cover on it, because I never did. One of these days, I want to get the cargo cover kit on my current M929.

The Overall Fun Factor: M35A2 Deuce vs. M818 Tractor

Dave: I see from your avatar that your tractor is enjoying the Michigan winter weather!

The Overall Fun Factor: M35A2 Deuce vs. M818 Tractor

I've owned more of both types of trucks that most people. Out of all of the trucks that I've owned previously and the ones I currently own, I'd say that an M35A2 is more fun than any other truck I've owned. Stick with a deuce for your first truck. Forget the 5 tons for now...my opinion.

    Mack vs Cummins debate

Go with the Cummins. That Mack motor is going to be old no matter how it runs. While the Cummins design is from the 60s, many of the motors were made more recently (Cummins was building the NHC250 into the 80s I believe). Also, as David Doyle says, parts are getting hard to come by for the...

    New RIG-M1008

One key does not actually fit all CUCVs. I've had trucks that my "master" key did not fit. I've been to John Winslow's and his key would not work on my truck. I inspected 15 or so Blazers at Letterkenny a few years backl and my key worked on about 12 of them. o, to conclude, the normal key...

Trip to Chambersburg 2/19 to get last deuce

RE: Duece Mike, I wonder if your extra "sway" was caused by pulling a winch truck (higher bumper). Since the bumper sits up higher, the tow vehicle will have "wanted" :D to pull down on the winch truck's bumper (since the pintle on the tow truck is lower than the bumper on the winch truck)...

    WTB: Glove box rubber gasket

RE: Re: RE: WTB: Glove box rubber gasket Sorry about that...yes, I was asking about the rubber gasket for the glove box on a deuce.

    M548 was on ebay

RE: M548 Jim: Welcome aboard. I've got that hood waiting for you until Aberdeen! For anyone that does not know Jim (JWenig), he is a heck of a nice guy and a long time MV collector. He used to advertise in MV Mag. His prices were always dirt cheap!

    Sprag?

FMJ: As I am sure Bjorn will chime in, it is always a good idea to run matched tires (that is, tires that have the same amount of tread on them). With that said, running mis-matched tires is LESS of a problem with the airshift front axle.

    WTB: Glove box rubber gasket

I recently got a truck that was missing the glove box rubber gasket entirely. Does anyone know where I can get a new one? Thanks!

    Lots of 818 tractors

I'm sure our Arab allies are taking some, but don't forget Israel. There was a lot of several hundred M923s/M925s and M813s at Lejeune a few years ago. The site guy said that all of them were headed to Israel. In terms of Arab allies, I think Morocco takes quite a few. Several months back, I...

    Aberdeen 2008

Mike (MADDAWG): I told you that we'd be right in the center of all of the action! I can't wait for May...actually, I'm also looking forward to your VA trail ride in April.

BEAUBEAU: I've read that Michelin considers those XLs non-directional.

    M548 was on ebay

The M548s were capable of swimming. However, they ditched that with the A1s. To be 100% correct, the A1s will swim, but they removed one of the two bilge pumps so swimming is a losing proposition if you are taking on more water than you can pump out. However, the manuals and a data plate on...

    Wrecker advice needed

RE: Re: RE: Wrecker advice needed $2500 is not actually that high. I bid on, and won a kit a few years ago on GL that went for around a grand. While it was new, it was missing some of the components (e.g., bolt cutter). So, in my opinion, $2500 is not bad if it is complete. I believe the...
