WTB: M818 or XM818 VIN data plate

The data plate on my truck is illegible to say the least. It is so faded you can't read it well and it looks like it was driven over. Does anyone have a new VIN data plate for an M818 or XM818? Thanks!

5 tonners at South Carolina GSA Auction

RE: trucks This post straddles the line between posting auction info and actually asking for help. My recommendation is to ask if someone is available to preview in a certain area without specifying what is coming up. I am not bidding on these trucks, but I'd be pissed if I were and you...

    GL Trouble

I actually could see the government stopping the sales of all trucks/trailers with the idea that they would be scrapped. They are doing this in Europe already. I have been told by a friend who has contacts within our govt that this is already being considered for CONUS. Take that for whatever...

    Marine looking for HMMWV

Check with Ollie Davis in Mt. Airy, MD (240-674-6003). If he does not have one for sale, he'll find one for you. Ollie is very fair on his pricing and is a very knowledgeable HMMWV mechanic.

    M1031, $7400.00!

I have friends that have purchased M1009s on GL that DID NOT need an EUC. The truck came from Aberdeen. I am not sure how things get classified as needing one or not.

    M1031, $7400.00!

There was a much nicer M1031 that brought $4K a few months ago...and it was a complete M1031 with fresh paint. You gotta know when to say when at auctions. You can't get caught up in the "I gotta have that truck" attitude. I lose way more than I win. If a truck crosses my max limit, I let it...

    GL Trouble

Robyn, If at all possible, please give us some notice if GL decides to go back to charging for the SF97 and dealer reassignment form. I was very happy to hear that this fee has been waived. Thanks!

WTB: Troop seats/side racks for long bed 5 ton cargo

I have a long bed 5 ton cargo truck. Does anyone have any troop seats/side racks for this truck (M55, M814 or M927/M928)? I would prefer fiberglass, but any are acceptable. I would also prefer nice condition or new racks, but any condition racks will be considered. Thanks!

    Value of Truck (M35A2)

The truck looks very nice to me. My thought is, however, that the guy is asking too much. A $6,000 M35A2 should be turn-key, ready to drive home...not a truck that needs work. If the truck were turn-key, I'd say $6K was fair for a really clean winch truck with heater, hard top, new tires and...

    FMTV up close

I wonder why the Army did not go with the Oshkosh MTVR like the Marines did. That is a beast of a truck. I read on the Oshkosh website that they are proposing to rebuild the M939 series trucks for the Army with some newer upgrades.

    Deuce engines

RE: Re: RE: Deuce engines DOGHEAD: I believe you. It sounds like you and the county maintenance people have many more miles on these trucks than I do so I defer to you guys. I did not mean to sound as though I was doubting you...only that I was wondering if others had the same experiences...

    Deuce engines

RE: Re: RE: Deuce engines I wonder if the opinions expressed by GIMP and DOGHEAD are anecdotal, or is there something to this. I've owned many deuces with all of the motors and never noticed a difference between the manufacturers. However, I also don't put too many miles on my trucks.

    newbie

The M880s are not very popular with the masses, but, those that have them, love them! I think $800 is cheap if it is straight and it will run.

    WTB: M973A1

Thanks, Bjorn. I;ve seen the Hagglunds video on this site many times and have often thought about getting one. To me, they are an absolutely awesome off-road vehicle.

    M925's

If possible, find a truck with ABS on it as the ABS kits are almost impossible to find. I have no idea what they cost if you could find one, but I'd bet they are expensive. One of the design flaws of the M939 series is their tendency for their brakes to lock up...thereby causing the motor to...

    MTVR vs Humvee

RE: MVTR vs Humvee Cool pics, Jason. I bet the MTVR was barely scratched. Interestingly, though, the HMMWV actually came through it fairly well considering the body is aluminum. I suppose I should wait to say that until you tell us how fast the MTVR was going!

    interstate batteries U6TL lame warranty

I normally like everything on my trucks to be mil-spec. With that said, once in a while, I will use civvy batteries in a truck. I recommend that you go to Walmart for batteries. Walmart has a 3-year no-questions-asked battery warranty. Use your batteries for 2-1/2 years and exchange them for...

new to 5 ton trucks need some advice

You'd better figure on $10K plus for a reasonable looking truck. That is the auction price and none of the trucks that I've seen indicated that they ran. They probably did, but there is no guarantee. Figure that in when you bid.
