M100's are pretty valuable-I'd do it the right way (i.e. a repro floor welded in) so that if in the future you decided to sell it you could recoup as much investment as possible.
I have seen complete NOS injection pumps on fleabay for $995 (which I think is way too much but I guess they are a limited commodity) so I am kind of curious how your mechanic came up with $1800 in parts, unless he plans on replacing the radiator and head gaskets at the same time (rofl).

ok, so here's what I did. Pretty simple.
Like I said, everything I've ever worked on had a nice solid surface for the steering wheel to bottom out on. Put the wheel on, tighten the nut and you can't overtighten it because the wheel is bottomed out.

I would love to have seen the reaction of anyone who saw you taking this.... "Ummmm.... hey Bob, what do you think that guy is doing? Is that a possum?"
Wow, I was just about to post this.
At the Ga MVPA Fall Rally last September, a reasonably youngish looking guy (mid thirties) was with his wife and their kid and they were walking around looking at the display vehicles. It was deadly obvious they didn't have an MV and I really got the feeling...
The lights you are referring to are blackout lights, sometimes referred to as "cats eyes".
You can find used ones by running a wanted ad here in our classified section, although you need to have 5 posts in order to post an ad.
Also, most of the big parts outfits like Midwest Military offer...
Corrosion in the floors and hat channels
Damage to the tub in the rear...... around the taillights.
Frequently, people cut tailgates into A1's. Fair amount of work to undo.
Correct YS950 carbs aren't cheap and are frequently missing
Battery boxes frequently rust out
Correct ignition stuff is...
