Why are you so hung up on old wasteful and inefficient technology? You should pull your LDT out and put a steam engine in. The first thing I do with any mechanical fan is cut them off and send them to China to be melted down in WalMart Christmas ornaments. You'll say it is proven, and yeah it...
I agree and am going to try to fab an external intake, possibly utilizing the existing under hood fresh air duct. Will add a 90 degree elbow to the rear of the heater and try to align it with the existing donut grommet. Not sure it will work. Will also try to re-utilize the fresh air intake...
If the alternator has a remote voltage sensing wire, that may be dropping voltage, so the alternator is increasing it's voltage to compensate. Sorry, I don't know this vehicle or what alternator it has. Most people are happy with their Delco conversions though in other areas of this board...
I also don't see much in the way of higher current 24V chargers, at least from auto parts suppliers. As another higher current option, one could consider to use a 24V charger for a forklift. They are plentiful on the bay and even your local scrap yard. They will be in a variety of input...
Thanks. Looks pretty straight forward. I hope you don't mind I used a pic in the want ads here to try and find the mounting brackets. Trying to find the cradle brackets for the heater is like hens teeth I would presume. Should be able to bend up something similar from strap iron, or...
No, but that is a fabulous idea. I'm getting ready to change over to group 31 batteries due to the age of my 6TL's, even though they are still cranking just fine. The engine fires quickly even when cold (with the factory shot of ether), so I may start with two 1150CCA batteries and see how she...
I added an overhead shelf to my M925A2 cab interior. Wanting to add too many goodies such as radios, gauges, switches, GPS, etc.... There simply is not enough room in the dash.
I used an extruded aluminum commercial door threshold and a couple of angle brackets to the interior hardtop lip...
As a separate test, remove the air intake mushroom cap at the top of the cab pipe. If you look at the surface area of the screen, compared to the filter media surface area, it's a joke. I think it is the same OD as a deuce mushroom, but with a larger pipe, so that leaves even less inlet screen...
I actually was going to mount in atop of the passenger side tool box, and duct it into the right pane of the rear view window (hard top) by making a tin plate the same size as the window pane, kind of like how a window A/C unit mounts in a house. I still may just do this, and run it on low...
Hey bud! Always good to hear from you (I bought my M925A2 from him last year, and put 5,000 miles on it so far in 1 approx. year). Please tell me more, such as how did that happen, what heater did you use, how well does it work, mounting tips (just reuse the heater core support plate?) and...
If it was your 12V alternator, then the frayed wire fault was probably from the hacker that installed it, since a 12V alternator is not stock. :driver:
Made a hitch step for the rear of my M925A2. Harbor Freight sells a hitch plate insert to mount a vice or small winch to, that I simply rounded the corners on and glued a piece of wet/dry 60 grit sandpaper to. There is nothing to stand on at the rear of the truck if you simply want to reach...
Please report back with the results. I am hearing mixed reviews on if it improves or not. I have been meaning to do such test with a digital vacuum gauge (MAP sensor), but just haven't done it yet. Thanks.
I don't think the fan can be installed backwards. It only mounts from one side, the other side is open with no way to attach it to the motor shaft.
This will be an interesting one to see what happens.
As another option, it is likely just the regulator portion that has failed. I have yet to do it, but if this is the case, you should be able to test this by supplying 24V directly to the alternator rotor momentarily via the brush wires (one will be ground, one will be +24VDC), and see if...
Exactly why I am doing the change over. 9F this morning here in MI, and. I want to be able to take my kids to school in it without them getting frostbite. Window down to control the temp would be a dream come true for me, thanks.
We'll, it is supposed to blow air out. :)
You mean it is blowing air out through the inlet under the hood and/or the inlet vent above the passenger headlamp? I'm not even sure that is possible with a squirrel cage type blower. Look in from the top, the fan should be rotating clockwise when...
