The 12.50-20 tires ar the ones at 40" or so. They really don't have more than a 5% effect on road speed. The 11.00-20 tires are 42" tall, what this series of truck, M34, started out with and add 10% to road speed. You can find either size for about the same price if you look hard enough. It...
Gentlemen, we have 2 different arguements going on here.
trailer vs. flat tow
tie off towed M35 steering wheel vs. not tied off
At least 5 people on here have done each and think it is the best way. Since it worked for them, you can't fault their reason for arguing for that option. The...
Yes, you have a bad air pack. I pulled one off my Gasser M35 the other day. It was pushing air and fluid up to the air filter on the firewall constantly whether I was using the brakes or not. All the air, brake and vent lines had brake fluid in them when I undid them. Get a new one or a kit...
I was trying to save you the hassle of shipping stuff. Actually, I want to see how the vinyl top looks on the truck. I figure vinyl will last longer than Canvas which is why I want it. However, if the vinyl just looks "wrong" for a 1952 truck. Then it might get to live a life of liesure at a...
You are correct. I just walked over to a M715 and pulled the number one plug wire off with an open end 3/4". One flat at a time, but it comes off. Sorry about that. I have the same tool pictured above and haven't had to think about the size in a few years.
There are at least 2 different sized master caps that I know of. That is why I suggested you take what you have to an auto parts store. We have a 50% chance of telling you the correct size without know which one you have. Taking the cap in is 100%.
11/16" open end will normally fit the wire end. If not, find a super cheap chinese open end and grind until it fits.
The plug itself is a regular 13/16". Just the plugs pointing to each other make it so a socket driver normally won't fit on top. A crow foot as suggested above will work. So...
Here is a thread I did a few years ago about this:
http://www.steelsoldiers.com/conversations/9593-texas-former-military-vehicle-registration.html
Basically, it is a very easy process that once you "train" your local people on will be painless. Print out the statutes on MV registration and...
Take your cap to a local auto parts store and see if they have a copper ring that will fit past the threads up to the shoulder. That should stop the leak.
Then, check the brass elbow on top for cracks. Replace if you find any. Install the cap, tighten down snug, not gorilla tight, install...
One of those long parts picker upper grabbers with the flexible shaft and 4 little hooks at the end controlled by a thumb push button works great holding the innards up while you move the hand inside the door around. Like to get circulation back and stuff like that. Obviously, the glass has to...
Mine needs 3 clicks of the hand throttle to start. Everytime! Hot, cold, just shut off, etc.... doesn't matter. I have the idle set at 800 rpm with the engine hot. 3 clicks gives me 1000 rpm with a warm engine, so it isn't much. It has been this way from the GL lot and 2500 miles of use...
Oh, the other gasser is pretty much as it was in the picture of when I first found them. 6 tires that hold air, missing its winch and bumper, radiator, pto shaft, air pack and 1 little bitty part on the carb I broke off on the good truck pulling the body are all that has been changed.
Kwai...
I found the part number for the sanding pads:
94017 from HF.
Also, read this thread about what others have done to sand down.
http://www.steelsoldiers.com/paint-bodywork/19487-5-hours-35-a.html
Thanks again for the compliments. If you go all the way to the frame, do all new fuel lines...
Something else to consider is that the hydraulic part of the system is in great shape. (I agree with the above threads that you should check every part real good before moving the truck.) Yet, you get no pedal because the brake shoes are worn and have never been adjusted. If all 6 wheel...
Thanks, the truck on the left is the one I built. I will include the picture here again so you don't have to go back to page 1.
Anyway, I took the labor intensive yet cheaper way of doing it. 4-1/2" composite sanding pads from HF mounted to a small grinder. Went don't to bare metal and bare...
The rear harness connects under the drivers seat on the frame rail. You will have to reach around the master cylinder, air lines and brake lines to get to it. The hardest part is undoing and redoing the clamps that hold the harness to the frame every 16" or so all the way back to the rear. I...
There is a complete mounting set up for $175. You really need to go to the Zone and look in the classifieds since I don't want to be linking stuff between the two sites.
30K or so M715's were built. 5-10% of those have owners now who show up on line. Out of that pool, the numbers bear out that about 15-20% of trucks came from the factory with a winch. Go to the "vin registry" link on the Zone if you want to follow the numbers yourself since I am generalizing...
If you are not in a rush. Call Wallace Wade and see if they are taking their truck to a show near you. I know they do shows. If they are, them throwing the tires and you going to the show might be cheaper than shipping.
Just don't try and take up 1/3 of their truck space with your tire...
