The kind that could be flipped had 6 studs with rubber in the middle holding them on. Kind of like the way a motor mount works. The newer kind that can't be flipped are bolted directly to the fenders. Unless you are doing a restoration, go with the newer bolt on style. Head light change is a...
Depends which compressor type you have. The universal joint looking swivel sockets work on some of the nuts. Crow feet sockets work too except they take forever. Something else to consider is that a 1/4" drive socket will have thinner walls and might fit in there if your 1/2" or 3/8" ones...
Just a note. Those of you who have the old style and made up an adaptor to plumb air to it for flat towing will have to make up a new set of adaptors. They are not the same size on the back. I found this out the hard way 400 miles from home with all the parts to fit the long style and nothing...
Filters, fuel type and idle speed. As said above, change all 3 fuel filters and verify the in tank pump is actually pumping. Not just making noise.
What kind of fuel are you running. Just because the truck will run on stuff, doesn't mean it will run well on stuff. Get a tank of real diesel...
Ask me what?
Oh, the od habit. Yep, we all have it.
Batteries, brakes, lights and basically anything that takes less than 8 hours to remove have been pulled or swapped among GL trucks. "Buyer Beware" should be a banner add on the GL site. But, we all keep going back to get our "fix."
That is how I knew which one it was in. I printed out all the tech articles from the cd back in January. I keep 5 in my binder at all times so that when I have to go to a meeting like I do in about 10 minutes. I will have something usefull to read and keep me awake while looking like I am...
I timed my 24 hour no run engine oil psi build up for 3 days with the stock filters. 10-12 seconds.
I installed the filters and timed it again after the first filling the filter start up and 24 hours. 4-6 seconds. I look at that as 50% less wear on the bearings. Since I plan to keep my...
The above two responses agree with what I was told when researching a GA recovery 2 years ago and a OK recovery a year ago. Just give the tax office the numbers for the vehicle and show insurance. Pay your $25 and go get the truck.
I miss a few days taking Colton to the doctor and confusion is on a rampage. Thanks for posting the facts Sam and Rory, again.
Guys, Texas is super easy when it comes to the Former MV registration. Don't complicate things by adding plates, looking for taxes to pay and fines that don't apply...
I use the magnetic Coleman battery deal between the rear and next forward bows. Just don't drive with it on there! I did and haven't found either part yet.
A little loop of rope, a carabiner and a lanter work great hanging from your bow of choice as well.
The holes on the side of the bow...
The hinged mud flaps and 6 stud light panels point toward an older truck. I assume it is a multifuel? Are the motor mounts rivited or bolted in? Look for exhaust hangers on the pasenger side inside the frame rail. Those are more tell tales of an older truck.
I did a straight through conversion years ago to get rid of "that" noise.
No top, windshield up and yelling doesn't work above 70 to talk to the person next to you.
Bikinni top and yelling stops working around 65.
Hard top on, windows up and talking is possible at any speed you are brave...
48 mph indicated is 54 mph actaul ground speed with the 11.00-16 XZL tires. That is what I call "warp speed" since it is my max for long runs. The transfer case will still hit 220-240 case temps at that speed. That is right at 2,000 rpm with the NV4500.
I will tell you that faster speeds...
You asking about the out of state new to Texas inspection, "green sheet?" I have done two with foreign titles and no green sheet and two with Texas titles and no inspections either. Print out the exemption form and take it with you.
Memphis has new fuel inlet hoses. Be prepared for sticker shock. They also make new windshield to cowl gaskets. Both are made with modern rubber to resist todays fuels.
Cruise the classifieds here and on the Zone for some of your other part needs.
Oh, the M715 has a T98 transmission with...
