Farm vehicles have to get inspected and can't be used as daily drivers either.
What is a daily driver? Do you drive to work 7 days a week? That is how a police officer replied when I asked him about it.
I had regular tags, inspection and plate on my M715 for about 4 years. I got pulled...
Thanks for the advice. I flipped the hubs to put on singles a few weeks ago and looked under the dust caps of each rear wheel cylinder. Squeaky clean. That is why this bothered me so much. I pulled the front hub covers off when I got the truck a year ago and found fresh clean grease, so the...
The M35A2 for the most part had the LDT version of the engine. The 5 ton had the LDS version of the same engine. More power! Go to the manual section, download the LDS tuneup manual. That manual has all the adjustments needed to get these things to fine tune. If you still don't have enough...
I have been referring to my 1964 -10,-20,-30 and the 1952 all in one manual TM-8029 or what ever the last two numbers are. I have a modern -10, and -34P but haven't felt the need to print out the other new ones until now.
Don't do it Chris! You were meant to have that truck by the way you found it and bought it. Sellers remorse would last for years if not a lifetime on that thing.
Since this thread has turned into a "What is different between the Gasser era trucks and the multi fuel trucks" thing. I thought I would put another difference I found last night here.
1971 M35A2 front brake hose at the wheel cylinders is much different and much better than the 1952 Gasser...
I have noticed what seems to be an oily film on my drivers side running board and inner fender the last week or so. I have a plastic 5 gallon jug of fuel sitting there and figured it had a pin hole leak or something. I also had a little mess on the frame rail above the axle. I figured that...
You just need to center it up as you push the can in position. Normally, the screw will get it close and then as you tighten, it will go to the proper spot.
Yes, spin on is best, military filters next best and then the wix version. All will filter your fuel however.
Cast your net a little wider and you will hit a bunch of us. I know of another member here with a M35a2 who grew up within whistler hearing range of the Lowiky (spelling) steak house right on the river. His parents still live there.
Drive smart, have the tow bar as far extended as possible, rig up the lights and you should be good to go. Figure 45-50 as the "happy" speed of your rig on long flat runs. Up hill will find you in the 30s. I have flat towed close to 1000 miles now and figured out that 2100 rpm in 5th seems to...
The 818 rears from FLMV are a few feet too long and need to have the plug under the seat changed out. All in all, I spent maybe an hour adapting it to fit the M35. For the money difference, well worth it to me.
PTO output shaft differences, pto drive shaft differences, airpack/master vent line routing, fuel line routing and fuel tanks are a few more things I thought of while heating up my lunch.
I just did a fast search and can't find my thread showing pictures of most of the major differences. I will find it or post them again in a few days.
Don't forget the parking brake handle and cable, on/off switch, plastic versus metal wiper motors, water cooled vs. air cooled two cylinder air...
None that I have observed between the doors, hoods, rear of the cab, cowling on the front of the cab, windshield frame and the other big stuff. The early Gasser trucks had the wiper motors off set some compared to the later trucks with centered motors on both sides. Now, if you look real close...
I was thinking of Smith field when I wrote the above. It has been a few years since I was there, but either Angola or Goshen has a pretty big maintenance shop that probably has some spares sitting around for you to play with.
If you can get better mpg out of a Gasser, please pass along what...
