XZL tires are a little bit bigger than the XL tires. My XZL's are between 37-3/4" and 38-1/8" tall when holding a level on the top of the tire and the end of the tape measure on the ground.
My speedometer is reading exactly 12% slow at any speed according to my gps. Which makes sense since 4...
Tom beat me to it. Take it off and forget about it. I had already done that to the winch on my Gasser which was rusted solid, but was looking for one when I talked to Tom about it. He convinced me to leave it out. I have and that winch has never moved on its own when pulling itself, other...
Which system do you have? The big multi contact box or the small solid state one with 3 wires on the firewall. Solid state is easy to figure out. There is a guy, Amphi, on the Zone that has a great diagram of the old contact box.
By the way, if you are in Mart, come on down some weekend. I...
The HMWWV with the two rubber run flats is just the same. Hook onto the big one after you push the small one out of the way and go for it. I did that a year or so ago on some.
A ball peen hammer is a great way to not only mark, but cut out the bolt holes when making a gasket. Good for pushing the thin pan metal back to straight too.
Another way is to put an engine hoist legs over the tire, wrap a chain around the run flat and start pumping. I have done this with LAV tires and the HMMWV tires. Works just fine.
9.00-16 is the size of the stock NDT (34"). That is all you can get when it comes to NDT's too. Most of us have moved up to 11.00-16 Michelin XL or XZL military tires. They are 38" tall, radials with treads that actually grip on wet roads.
VPW, Memphis and AB Linn might have between the 3 all the parts you need for a complete rebuild of the engine. Don't count on it however or that it will be anywhere near cheap or the price of rebuilding a more popular engine.
If it runs, doesn't look like a water fall at the rear main seal...
I ordered one of the "parashoots" from Kipman and got it yesterday. I haven't tried putting it on a M35 yet because it has been raining out, but from unfolding it in the living room, it should be just the thing to work as a cover. Either that or a great dust cover for my small British cars.
For sure on the cardboard for a winch truck. I poked a hole in a good radiator without it. Don't forget the ground strap when undoing stuff on the bottom. You would be amazed how much force those straps take before either they snap or the remover smartens up and looks for something still...
I drained my coolant Friday afternoon thinking I would spend about an hour changing the lower hose, the belts, adding heater outlets and putting in new coolant. The black goo that came out scared me and then the next 3 hours were taken up with changing that stupid lower hose and pulling the...
The solid state blinker "flasher" unit is a little black box on the drivers inner fender on the M35. It has a little 3 pin connector with one of the wires going immediately to a ground at the flasher mount.
I have never seen a picture of a M35 with the old Spartan contact type flasher...
I had my Michelin 11.00's at 50 until I read this thread. I got to thinking about loads and such and went up to 75 on the rears and 85 on the front. (The minimum on the chart way above was 75 psi.) I took it for a 120 mile drive Saturday and about lost all my teeth, my back hurts and my head hit...
I have the 2 legged square mirrors on the Gasser. I was impressed with how good they are compared to the single legged mount for the exact same mirror on the M715. Then I got the dual pattern West Coast mirrors on the Whistler. I feel blind in the Gasser now.
When you go to set them up Tom...
Front running lights with no provision for b/o markers make it a CJ front end. Along with the other items pointed out already.
1 piece windshield make it a 3A. Does the middle panel under the glass fold out for a vent? That is another 3A item when combined with the short hood. A tailgate...
