Torque Converter for lug nuts on 5Tons and Deuces

I just read that PS word for word and think I found a mistake. A 1-1/2" wrench fits all of my lugs. Yet, the article says 1-5/8". Good advice on using that thing too. They are great when used correctly, but will snap an arm or your chin with ease if you aren't carefull.

    Radiator color?

Thanks guys. Looks like my radiator will have to get a light shot of green on the outside and maybe around the shroud too.

    Radiator color?

The big white FedEx truck brought my NOS Gasser radiator Saturday. (Thanks again Ziggy!) It is still sealed with some kind of goo and paper combination and it is gloss black. I have to weld the spring mount to it since this is a true early Gasser version with the solid mount. Once I am done...

    Door Hinge Pin Removal

Steve, I don't think I will follow your steps exactly, but thanks for the tip. The doors still have the hinges on them. I went through 4 phillips bits in the impact driver getting the hinges off the cab. I was thining about leaving the hinges on the doors and just popping the pins out. If I...

    Door Hinge Pin Removal

I am not sure which is worse. Trying with hammer, pliers, bigger hammer, saw, grinder and any other tools I can think of that will help pull the 4 hinge pins after they have been sitting in the hinges for 40+ years. Or using a screw driver, impact driver, grinder, drill, welder to remove the...

    M44 Series Rocker Panel Replacements

The rockers are super thin, but the metal under the cab backing up the rockers are 1/8" or maybe even 3/16" thick. Very thick and probably not rusted through. My point is that you could cut the rockers out, not worry about the cab floor flexing or moving, tac weld in a piece of 14 gauge that...

    e-mail notification

This is kind of the same topic. I got two e-mail notifications today about PM's I didn't get. One was for a 27 AUG 07 pm and the other was for one sent today. Neither of which is in my "inbox." If I had a pm on 27 AUG 07, I already deleted it. Figured somebody was messing with the system...

    Abnormal 3-lever light switch

The switches with the straight screws have bigger/thicker levers and metal parts connected to the levers. They are also the ones that according to the old manuals are rebuildable. Notice all the switches in the cartoons have the straight screws. Newer switches had phillips head screws...

Hmmm, Didn't Think It All The Way Through

I don't really have a process to weigh it. But, I would guess in the 500-700 range. I arrive at that because I can not pick it up, yet I can move a side up an inch or two if I use my legs. My overhead electric hoist is rated at 880 pounds and it picks it up ok. It is a harbor Freight cheapy...

    Solid State Blinker box Mounting

That is a M35A1 front harness, a M818 rear harness, the military generator to alternator adaptor harness (I have the package at home with the proper numbers on it if you want to know it) and the pigtails for the blinker box and blinker arm added in. The M35A1 front harness had the old blinker...

    Solid State Blinker box Mounting

I know, the solid state blinker box is supposed to go on the drivers side inner fender on the M35. I do not know what year the blinkers were switched to the solid state system. I also don't know what year the alternator replaced the generator/external regulator. Based on what I know from my...

Hmmm, Didn't Think It All The Way Through

Well, I really didn't feel the need to take a picture of the pedals before I put the cab on, so I don't have one just of them. But, here is the dash and cab as of Monday night.

Hmmm, Didn't Think It All The Way Through

When I had the Gasser down to just the frame and running gear, I looked at everything, read the manual about the part and adjusted the part to the specs called for. This I thought was great. My clutch and brake pedals were way out of spec for free play. I thought I was saving time by doing...

    Tail Light Brackets

Joe, I have a bag of the star washers. I just don't know where right now. Once I find that bag, they will get installed. You are correct about how the 1952 tail lights are supposed to be. taillight, b/o light and service brake light inside a "cat eye" bucket on the left with just a service...

    Tail Light Brackets

If you look at the picture, you can see that 3 of the wires are connected. The 4th wire on the M35A1 harnerss is for the b/o brake light. Something not found in the small bucket tail lights. Look underneath the unplugged 4th wire and you can see my stencil type metal tag that says "service."...

    Tail Light Brackets

Chris, that glad had is beyond clean and paint. I need to replace it so I didn't even waste time on it. I just stuck it back on to keep crud out. I forgot about the early bed mounted lights. Both of my trucks were Air Force and then were loaned out to a Defense Contractor sometime in the mid...

    Tail Light Brackets

I know I am driving some of you crazy with my "old truck, new truck" pictures and questions. If you are one of those, you might as well click the "back" button right now. Below is a picture of my tail light brackets. Both my 1952 and 1953 truck have the same ones. The only difference is the...
