The Gasser I am redoing had a powerplant heater battery heater under the passenger seat. I pulled the seats out a year or so ago along with the battery warmer box and didn't look at them again until today. I need to paint my seats and pulled out the two sets I have to figure out which one is...
I finally got around to figuring out which ones I want to use on the truck today. The 1952 curved version toolbox and Battery door will not fit a truck that has the cab mounted rear fender support pedestal. That was unfortunate since the doors on my curved version are better than the square...
RE: Re: RE: Is this really a deuce clutch????
Let me clarify a little Chris. COLLEGE football traffic. Think 20 some odd year old women dressed for an afternoon in the sun. There was plenty of reasons to slow down real slow or speed up real fast depending on how the girls on the vehilce next...
RE: Re: RE: Is this really a deuce clutch????
Driving Kwai's M35 back from Georgia I happened to be in the truck when we got caught up in some construction/football game traffic in Alabama. I started playing with the t-case to transmission gear relationship. (What else can you do in a Duece...
Another little tell tale I have noticed is the front tunnel cover. Obviously, the flat firewall cover is different than the recessed firewall cover. But, mine which I know came from a Gasser truck has the speedometer cable going up in the middle of the cover. You can see this in the picture...
I have a dry fuel tank and new metal fuel line from the tank to the fuel pump. It is a multifuel tank with a bad pump. That doesn't matter because the pump is too much for the Holley carb on the Gasser engine anyway. I want to use this dry tank as a way of figuring out my minimum pick up fuel...
Cool! Thank you for looking into this. I did not start this thread thinking "DDoyle is going to see this, stop what he is doing to provide for his family and look up my answer within 24 hours."
I actually feel kind of bad that you did just that. I love the complete answer given though...
Bjorn, Thanks that gives us two trucks with manuals showing pictures of the #27 wire going to the drivers side of the gauges. The old M35 manuals are the ones that got me wondering since they have the #27 wire on the outside. I have about 4 spare plastic oil or temp gauges. I feel like just...
The gauges I am installing are all newer 24 volt ones with Packard fittings. I have a set of the AC Douglas fitting ones but since I am making the entire truck non cloth insulated wire Packard fitting, I am switching the gauges over too.
Oh, by newer I mean late '60's M715 take offs. I like...
Thanks for the insight David.
I don't care about "correctness" of the parts Joe. I just have become facinated with the subtle differences in the parts I am working with. I also figure there are people reading this who want to know as close as possible what year truck they are looking at...
I am to the point of putting my gauges on the truck and wiring them up. But, I can't find a consistant listing in the manuals about which wire goes where on the gauges. The M35 manuals show the power wire #27 going to the outside post on the gauges as they are aligned in the panel. Yet, the...
Now I Don't Know if my Cab is even a Gasser Cab. M35 differences
I have been pointing out differences between 1952 and 1953 cab and bodies for a few weeks now as I find them. It seems the biggest difference was staring me in the face all these months and I didn't see it until yesterday.
My...
Actually Chris, we use a spagetti pot for such use around here. Old one with the teflon worn off not the one we still cook with. 5 gallon buckets are too tall to put in the bed with him. (they fall over and hit him in the head.) We took him to the doc this afternoon. Stomach virus. His...
Thanks for the kind words guys. I am at home today because my 9 year old son Colton woke up with the crud. A few minutes ago he was hurling pretty good. He is needed for the next step of the build because he is my "bolt holder" inside the cab while I turn the other end to attach all the...
The picture above showing the rear straps also shows off the big blemish with my replacement cab. What looks like a fork lift tong had gone through the back of the cab. That was how I got it. I hammered it back together and welded the hole up. But, since I don't think Bondo or any kind of...
All right, I finally got a picture posted today. Try for two this time.
Once I got it to balance right, I thought I was home free. If you look at the next picture, you will see the cab almost to the frame. See where I screwed up?
Yep, I put the straps under all 4 mounting bolt locations...
My work computer has been turning off for no reason at random intervals today. I have started this post at least 4 times already and had my computer just shut off while loading the pictures. So, here goes one picture a post.
My biggest worry going into this was being able to to pick up my...
RE: Re: RE: Doh!
My students must have thought I was having a medical emergency or something. Just as my first class was walking out the door I was clicking away and trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. Lots of wierd noises, arm flapping and desk pounding going on.
Glad it is fixed.
