Not sure if it is anything that would be relevant - but I have a large Garwood winch I am not using - pto/chain drive drum with two capstans - one on each end of the drum. It's about 40"+- wide. I have seen these on antique logging trucks.
Would be easy to power by hyd motor instead of the...
I believe the M870 (not sure if it is true for A2's) have an adjustment in the parallelogram to set the 'gooseneck' at different heights - so OK for civi 2" 5th wheels down close to the frame and for the higher 60+ inch x 3 1/2" LET/METs.
Demoh - good luck in your quest - there is a lot riding on this for many members here - PA is (was!) a good state for ex-mil gear.
Hopefully this will be resolved to your satisfaction and you can report back when things progress. Subscribed.
What adapters are now carried? - inventory of vehicles keeps changing, last manual change I saw was still for the M984E1 included deleting lifting operation for the M911.
I think there is a "black fella"** crying somewhere - tree spirits and all!
Question - do you know why you switched from Leopard 2's to Abrams?
[**NB. Sensors/pc fans/Mods - Aboriginal folks use this term to describe themselves, so in context, this is not a racial slur.]
Well it looks like the diaphragm in the primer pump - part of the "primary filter water separator adapter" #30 is not playing nice. Can't get anything out of the outlet port when manually pumping or cranking.
Do any of the mil parts dealers carry NoS Detroit spares? I am sure that the regular...
I see them all there thanks. -20-2 says -10 is where the "Prime Fuel System" is found, but -10 is operator, manual.... I should have recognised that number, however the -10 doesn't have priming instructions, only filling...
Need to 'Prime Fuel System' as I have a no start situation. Trucks been standing for a while and primary fuel filter has dried!!?? No fuel comes from the sediment drain on base of #1 filter.
TM 9-2320-363-10 is not in (the TM section of) this site.
Thanks
Two of the four 6TL batteries have died (8.5 and 10.1 volts - 0 charge), I went to the local battery store (yes, Interstate specialist who have supplied pallets of 6TL's to local armory/base).
I had followed their suggestions for 'rejuvenating' them with standard (heavy duty charger on wheels)...
Maybe these people have figured it out...

I have a small gauge extension lead connected to a small window "candle" lamp holder with a red painted night light that hangs near the basement door. When the power goes out and I hook up the genny, I hang two short bare wire hooks - with insulated connection to the extension...
Dang - shame I just saw this thread. I'd be up for this but we're just about to leave for holiday at the beach and to get the boy back to college.
Eric - fancy a quick recovery from Drum then I'll do the rest when I get back....?
Is this what the TM says? So does this mean that you won't be fitting a tail chain and hook?
What is the capacity of the winch? I can't imagine that twice the cable and the snatch block would always be deployed if the amount of "stuck" is within the limits of the winch. It will still self...
Because the Army had a different specification - as Suprman said.
You are assuming that this is a problem... The real purpose of the chain is to wrap around something - axle, damaged vehicle frame, tree...... without committing one of the biggest faux-pas of winching - wrapping the cable...
Welcome fellow "Roverite"!!
NJ is very healthy for Rover activity though predominantly civi ones - I am off to a do there early Aug - maybe 25 of all ages, probably only a few ex-mod.
Our Rover do is in Nov - upstate NY, great crowd and lots of off roading....
How about making a lunette eye hitch extension/converter for the front of the trailer - quick attach to the kingpin of the trailer? I am sure the wreckers pintle hitch is up to it..
NB. This a purely an idea.
Extension of 'frame' to the left of the pic, then chaining to trailer frame would...
Not sure if they were connected, but we recently drove along 70 (4th July weekend) and there was a complete wrecker body at the front of a small yard, on the South side a few miles West of Kinston, maybe 11 miles... I seem to remember a "Kinston 12" mile sign some time after I saw the wrecker...
