Removing the tire from the wheel

Will the scrapper take the tires if you give them the metal? By the time you figure your labor verses what you would get for the scrap rims that might be your best bet. I don't know about OK but it's too dam hot to break down tires by hand in Alabama. Sometimes you are just better off...

Removing the tire from the wheel

I have broken down many a military tire during my Army career and it never got any easier. I started out using the mattock and beating the bead down after lubing it up good with Dawn dishwashing liquid. Later me and a buddy made a slide hammer (we had seen one used at NTC) that made the job...

What needs to be done to prepare vehicle to be towed?

You should be able to drop the trailer, block the wheels and pull the deuce up onto it without too much trouble. I have flat towed several deuces (once from Little Rock, AR to Alabama) and if given my choice I'd trailer one before towing. The liability issue with flat towing is one concern...

    5 ton reliability

They are both reliable vehicles if you take care of them. The 5-ton will suck the bottom out of the fuel tank and you are pretty much limited to straight diesel fuel unless you want to try mixing Used Motor Oil or Waste Veggie Oil in it. Just about everything on the 5-ton is heavier and more...

My first MV and a thanks to the member that sold her to me.

I bought a deuce years ago that had a huge wire cage in the back of it (either for prisoners or to store high value items in). Since I had no use for it I posted it and ended up selling it to a guy that put a big parrot (or some kind or bird) in it. I don't see anything "fowl" about putting...

    como wire

My unit at Fort Benning still had them in the late 80's. The "wire dogs" would string wire and every CP and section had one of those phones....they did have an automated switch and it didn't require an operator to put the calls through. Ironically if there were a major EMP event those old...

I have to give Heidi an A+ also......she will go above and beyond to help you if you use your inside nice voice when you talk to her. She is also great on the chat line. As far as the retail vs GL sale.....I once bought a huge gearbox that cost Uncle Sam over a 100 grand for a hundred bucks...

I trust in god and the man who's flying that plane...

Before the Huey became a "flying truck" there was the DC-3......I have never flown in one but it is on my bucket list. I remember when I was very young my Grandmother flew to Cuba (the part we owned) to be with my Aunt during childbirth. The plane she flew on was a civ version of the DC-3.

    Bypassed the FDC today

I would not go over 75/25 WMO/diesel......in my opinion you are setting yourself up for failure (yes I know others claim to be running 100% UMO). I am running 50/50 and I see a big heat increase during a hard pull........I actually got the exhaust pipe on the M275 (NA engine) so hot it changed...
