Service line to trailer disconnected, it crosses winch line path. Note scrap wood 'gunplank' on tail of trailer and tail of gooseneck (pic 3) to protect winch cable.
Needed dunnage/wood just incase the fuel...

Lined up for a gentle up hill pull onto the trailer over the rear wheels.
Pushing down really hard to hide the civi trailer on a high military fifth wheel. Also the Pete is 10' tall.
For a change, here's a thread where the ex-mil truck does the recovery of a civi one...
Just had some mates over and got to play with the winch on my '16A1.
For those that are interested, this Pete is a little special as it has a factory Detroit 12V71 - twin supercharged V12 2-stroke diesel...
Yup, was a great show - we hung out with the Ward owner (they are actually designated 6 ton "Heavy Wrecker") as one of the guys that came over from the UK has one also (him and I toured Normandy in it for the 50th).
Spoke to this guy as well, he worked it up until a few years ago in NJ I...
Flame out on way home
I had put out all the flames, but it was still smoldering as the chaps arrived.
Pic 1 - fire confirmed out, hub cooled off
Pic 2 - Loads of fire trucks, must have been a boring day at the stn
Pic 3 - Gone almost as quick as they arrived - foam left on road.
Pic 4 -...

I'd appreciate anyone who wants to fill in the gaps - it will help focus my gray matter.
Steve; - yes, you were correct, I was "glad you meet me" (your quote)...
Craig (Bigsarge...); - (apparently pronounced Kreg) .... I think you need to buy a tent before you get a truck.

Findlay: Drive home more eventfull than show... read on
Great event - was nice to make it out there for the first time and meet with a load of SS names and put faces to them.
Tiz a shame that I brought the wrong pickup for the vast pile of stuff Gimp and Dave collected for me.... had a rumble...
Not if I had one and trusted it!! I'm still a maps person. (Stick shift, windey windows, no cruise......)
Yeah - it's a toss up between extra miles on the interstates yet straight forward vs shorter distance, fuel saving and sanity of decent scenery yet maybe slower.
Still going to try the...
Suggested directions off of I 90 from the East (NY,PA etc)?
Looks like going to Perrysburg to pickup I 75 would add a bunch of miles compared to cutting across from I 90 back by Sandusky (Exit 110 - then South on OH 4) or getting off for Fremont (Exit 91 - then South on OH 53). As it is...
Never been before, so I don't know if there are any "green" trucks on display, (would be a great excuse to start a little corner) ... but I have mates coming over that weekend and we're going:-...
M870 x 4 auction Augusta ME, May '15 (CLOSED)
Noticeable when you throw on a couple of perspective lines and the "horizon".
Same quote on all four....
Description:M870 Semi Trailer, Low Bed, 40 ton, Construction Equipment Transporter. 13 tires, 10.00 x R15. Lock and hinge pin holes oblong...
I could potentially get it a lot closer! How big a volume do you think it'd dimension out at; LxWxH I haven't chosen my trip vehicle yet and he is approx 3 hrs from me.
Only pics I could find of 870s on 931s were of models - I know the model boys like to be real accurate, but I am curious why there are no pics of the real combination...
Fifth wheels in pics of real 931s definitely look "civi" in height though, much lower than a 916.
Thanks. I can do fractions (if I have to) and mm!!!
Did you notice the droop on the gooseneck of the A1? I guess it was that one that the GL guy inspected for write up on and just copied it for the other three. "pivot pins oval" etc.
Not sure which one gets used more, 3 1/2" for the 916 or 2"...
