Googled "georgia vehicle sales tax exempt" (done this sort of things lots of times, so I'll let you slide... )
Check out #44...

I don't know where to get form ST-8, but it should get you going down the right path...
Good point Kenny: I forgot to offer the use of mine. I'm kind of far (~50 miles) away (north of Baltimore), but if you need it, let me know. I will need it in the next few weeks to move a truck, but I'll see what I can do.
Do you have a pintle hitch available for your truck? I guess if...
I think David meant the shelter dolly he won on the same sale as his M1009.
If it won't fit on a tow dolly, then I would probably agree with using a tow strap or tow bar with someone steering and braking in the M1009 (provided it has brakes).
Agreed. It is very frustrating and they should know the laws before they get into business. But, this is GL.... Everytime I argued with them about the tax I asked "Why do I have to do GL's homework for them?" I never got an answer...
GL treats everything as merchandise and charges the tax appropriately. Their "tax expert" even told me I had to pay tax. I got an apology and a courtesy credit after proving it the 3rd time...
Google the title and tax laws in your states. Most states have statutes online. Send GL the URL's. It...
I've had them refund my taxes on several vehicles that were bought in MD and PA, because PA does not charge out of state residents sales tax on vehicles and MD collects it at the point of registration. You'll have to do some homework on GA and prove to them that they should not be collecting...
If I remember right, that truck was just recently mentioned in another thread, but I can't remember if it was that he was finally getting it to his place (still wrecked), or if it was actually repaired?
They are not terrible to maintain, but they can be quirky. Fortunately, you can adapt some civilian parts to make it more tolerable if you're not worried about keeping it original. The mileage isn't terrible for 4.56 gears and no O/D, but it ain't great either. Figure about 12-16mpg, depending...
And it's a pretty rare truck, too. The left rear wheel on this one appears to be a later 20-bolt wheel from a 900 series. I'll bet the original style are hard to find. Still not a reason to pass on something that rare and cool!
The click is the starter relay under the dash. Sounds like the starter died. I presume this truck is converted to 12V and it's a 12V starter, since you're only running one alternator? Try tapping on it while someone tries to start it, but it sure sounds like it just died ("turned like the...
Rust free is the key to value for these trucks. Plus, they typically have low mileage for their age. The M1009's are not worth as much as pickups, IMHO, although they are definitely better for regular highway use because of the 3.08 gearing. In my mind, a really clean M1009 is worth $4-5K, if...
Depends on your point of view. For a truck like that, I don't think $5K is crazy. It's high, but not crazy. Even though it appears to have been sitting for a while, it looks pretty complete. It appears to have power steering of some sort and it's definitely rare amongst collectors. If I was...
I can see better cooling at an idle, but how well does that flex fan work at highway speeds in the heat of summer? My old big-block Nova wasn't happy at all with the flex fan at highway speeds. It tended to act like a solid wall and restrict the airflow at highway speeds. Changed to an electric...
The alternator must have an isolated ground for the standard CUCV elecrical system. Sounds like your latest may not. Make sure your guy knows that you need an isolated ground. The ground of the passenger alternator is hooked to the positive 12V side of the fornt battery/left alternator.
