Is it hard to start? Lots of cranking like it got air in the system? I guess it could also be a weak injector banging a little until the air gets purged...

Not without modification to the fuel system (if you want it to live for any length of time). Some people use ATF as an addative for IP lubrication, but I've not heard of anyone burning straight used motor oil.

Not all states do this. MD does, and from your post, I presume TX does too. But, not all states are set up this way.

The data plate you can't read is for the intake manifold flame heater, I believe. Someone probably has a pic of the exact verbiage...

Mine is the medium version. It can be used on either. I have towed CUCV's with it. I have the correct feet for the CUCV and M35. The towbar fits my civilian pintle adapter (it's the size of the one on the CUCV's).
