    Tapping noise

Is it hard to start? Lots of cranking like it got air in the system? I guess it could also be a weak injector banging a little until the air gets purged...

    Tapping noise

Does it only tap while your cranking it? Or is it noticeable while it's running too?

    New rule proposal...

RE: Re: I for one... Man, look at all of those posts. I need to type faster! Or, I guess I could just save my energy.... Nah! What fun would that be! Die thread! DIE!!!! :P

    New rule proposal...

Re: I for one... With fuel at $4.50 per gallon, NO scrapper is buying any truck on GL for the prices they are currently bringing. This "Saving trucks" rationale is only an excuse that is used to make the act of posting things that you are not bidding on appear noble. If a scrapper can get $3K...

M746/M747 Ward LaFrance Heavy Equipment Transport Spare Part

RE: M746/M747 Ward LaFrance Heavy Equipment Transport Spare I believe there's a member in the UK or Europe with one, but I'm not sure about anyone in the states having one.

    Fuel in CUCV

Not without modification to the fuel system (if you want it to live for any length of time). Some people use ATF as an addative for IP lubrication, but I've not heard of anyone burning straight used motor oil.

    New rule proposal...

Exactly! So why post the link? I think the gray area isn't so gray. Even rare items should be trumped by the first part of the rule. To paraphrase that part: "If it is easily found on well known auction site don't post it." Personally, I don't post anything for reasons I have stated plenty of...

    Last M123a1c

You misquoted me. I pointed out nothing of the sort, aptly or otherwise. I said "Nothing slips by everyone". That is not the same as "Everone on this site knows about everything". If you found it, chances are so did plenty of other people. As for the logic of "Everyone knows, so why not post...

    Last M123a1c

This is a perfect example of the type of thinking that infuriates those who oppose this type of posting. You did not post anything about this auction until you decided that you were not seriously interested. Why is that? (<-- That's rhetorical...) Those who *remained* seriously interested did...

    Tax

Not all states do this. MD does, and from your post, I presume TX does too. But, not all states are set up this way.

    Tax

These statements pretty much sum it up. This is where GL falls on their face as far as this vehicle collector is concerned. In those states where vehicles are treated differently, GL does not seem to be aware of it until someone points it out and proves it. If I buy a television in PA, I pay PA...

    A couple NICE finds.

That one has been for sale for a while at Winer's. Definitely cool...

    Tax

Rebelpride, No sweat. I'm glad to help fellow MV'ers keep their money and give GL some pain while I'm at it... Man, I'd want that in writing. Heck, even then I'd be worried/doubtful... Even if the rate is the same, most states don't have a policy of saying "OK, you paid our tax to...

    Tax

The problem is not all states collect tax the same way on vehicles. Then, it might depend on if you are a resident or not. This is probably a good subject for a sticky somewhere. I can contribute some data from MD, PA, and now GA, but a thread is really difficult to follow when everything is...

New Deuce in MD - pics and numbers (and questions)

The data plate you can't read is for the intake manifold flame heater, I believe. Someone probably has a pic of the exact verbiage...

    Towing a M1009 w/ a car dolly

Mine is the medium version. It can be used on either. I have towed CUCV's with it. I have the correct feet for the CUCV and M35. The towbar fits my civilian pintle adapter (it's the size of the one on the CUCV's).

    Towing a M1009 w/ a car dolly

Probably. The white one with single rear wheels? That was mine.

    Towing a M1009 w/ a car dolly

FOREVER! :D Since I put the turbo kit on last year, it's like a whole new truck! And, it's only got 79K on it, so I can use for a long time to come. It's funny, two people actually asked me if I wanted to sell it while I was at Aberdeen, but like I told them: It would be too hard (or...

    Tax

A quick look around on the Georgia tax site found this... http://www.etax.dor.ga.gov/salestax/st3forms/TSD_Sales_Tax_Nonresident_Purchase_MotorVehicle_Exemption_Certificate_ST8.pdf That's what GA says you need. Now, you'll have to fight with GL about who has to get the refund from whom...
