The humor is in people complaining that someone "drove the price up" and didn't win the truck. They didn't "drive the price up". They bid it up to what they were willing to pay. The other funny thing is that people seem to think somebody does not have the right to bid on a bunch of trucks. I am...
RE: Re: RE: Re: How do you investigate this???
I find some of this kind of comical. Personally, I'm not going to let any truck on GL go too cheap, if I have any interest in it whatsoever. I'd bid on 20 trucks at the end, if they were all what I felt were bargains. If I raised the price $500...
As reb87 posted, the 37,500# rating is the off-road rating of the M818 & M819.
The highway towed load is 55,000 (M818) and 46,000 (M819).
You still need to figure trailer weight in that, but it's a heck of a lot better than 37,500... You might not get there fast, but you're not exceeding the...
I'm wondering why you would bother doing this? If you're going to hold the starter until oil pressure is up anyway, why bypass the switch? The switch is there so that if the unit loses oil pressure while running, it will shut down and not ruin the engine.
As much as I hate to sell it, I really don't get enough use out of this trailer and I have some other projects to commit funds to.
Here's the specs:
1989 Kasel Mfg. Company M101A2
A few surface rust marks, but absolutely NO ROT!
No dents or damage.
Tires are very good.
New GMA 3-color vinyl...
RE: My new to me M103
That and the other one appeared to have never been used and still packed as shipped. Good deal on those units. I wish I had been closer. :(
Glad to hear it. I guess since GA has a form for out-of-state residents to fill out, they are being more difficult. When you are ready to buy your next one, be sure to fill that form out and turn it in prior to bidding.
No one is ever really "done" buying trucks, are they??? :cookoo:
I don't think it was a question of having 10.5V on the battery? I think that was the rating of the 60G.
Personally, I go with the 070's, since the spades are the right size.
Assuming it is all factory stuff....
First, check the alternator output. Then, top off the batteries. Then, check for the "Orange Wire Kit". Then, switch the positions of the orange and red wires on the bigger blue box (front and rear studs).

DRMS messed up one or two of mine. I always had to send them back to them. I would not compare what GL does with what is "correct". I guess maybe GSA would know, but when DRMS was doing them, that's what they told me on the ones with mistakes. Your mileage may vary...
RE: M1008
M1008 & M1008A1 would have rear covers. 5th digit of VIN="G", then it's a M1008 or M1008A1. M1031, M1010 & M1028 variants are "H".
With that much crap in the tank, I think I would spend the money for a new one and just replace it. Shop around on eBay and you can get an aftermarket...
Send it back to GL and tell them it is incorrect. It is a "controlled" government document, so they will need yours back to issue another. Hopefully, you won't wait 90 days to get it...
Jack the front axle off the ground. Lock the hubs (truck in 2wd). Rotate one tire. If the other moves in the same direction, it still has the Trac-Lok. Just to be sure, lower one tire and try to turn the elevated one. If it won't turn (or is really hard to move), it's still got the Trac-Lok.
Re: ours worked great
Man, I must be mis-understanding this statement? Please elaborate.
I'm pretty sure it had more to do with the engine stalling on a panic stop and inexperienced drivers sliding into vehicles and killing people or losing control of the truck and killing or hurting...
Hmmm, I was thinking you'd need to point the vehicle uphill as mentioned, but I guess a 5-ton might want to tend to slide down the hill more than a small 4x4. Side slopes might be better suited to chains AND LOCKERS!!! :driver:
