    How do you pronounce CCKW?

So, the correct pronunciation then would be: 1941 Standard cab Front wheel Drive Tandem rear axle... Truck? I have also heard them called Jimmys or GMCs. "CCKW" or "WWII deuce" is my preferred way to refer to them for clarity.

Me Vs Windsor Township - Victory

That ordinance is clearly meant to keep dirt bikes and ATV's under control... Oh, and let's not forget "Pocket Rockets"... :cookoo: The problem is, the definition of recreational vehicle is pretty vague, but the fact that is says "...for off-road recreational use..." should be enough. Have...

    need starter!??

12-volt starters will turn quick at 24V, but not for long. I'd do a 12V conversion if you're getting a 12V starter. It's not that difficult.

    1961 - 800 Series 5 - Ton found in Iraq

I doubt it's a true 1961 model as I don't think those were produced until 1969, but a decent truck nonetheless!

    M1028 w/ambulance pkg

No real good fix for full 24V, although I have heard if you have enough load, it seems to work OK? Maybe some sort of solid state component/design flaw? Who knows? Search here for more details (it's been covered a lot), but switch the orange and red wires on the DUVAC (larger blue box - move...

    Identifying CUCV's - let's get this straight.

M1028A1 is a converted M1031, which is why it has the 9200 GVW instead of 9400. The A2/A3 are 10,120 GVW.

PART OUT A DEUCE--- yes or no?

You own 'em, so I say do whatever you want with them. I've got nothing against parting out a truck or two from time to time. I see the word "scrap" being used a lot in this thread, but that's not how I took the original post? Even if it is the intent, they're your trucks. I agree that it makes...

    Classified add prices, main page

That is a little frustrating, but I don't actually know what is happening there? Are people entering the wrong amounts? I would still like to see a classified forum (that is exempted from the main page listing to keep it from being overrun), so you can bump items when you lower the price or...

    Problems with SF97 in MD

I had problems with my last batch of paperwork, but they did take it. That doesn't mean anything, though. It depends on the clerk and how happy they are... Did you go to Glen Burnie? That's where I had to speak with a big boss "manager" to get them to process it, but it was proven that day that...

    Engine Questions

I think this has been covered a lot, so search the archives for the turbo stuff, but the short story is: Yes, you can use the 6.5 turbo parts on your 6.2L. The balancer can be a problem, but just keep an eye on it. Rubber hunks missing from the elastomer ring are bad. Dry/cracked rubber is bad...

    CUCV pintle hitch

Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: CUCV pintle hitch The M1028/A1/A2/A3, M1031, and M1010 have the 10K brake system. The M1009's is a 7K system.

    Dead batteries

I understand what the TM says. It is wrong. True for the M1010 (and some M1028's), not the others. The system just doesn't work that way. I actually thought the exact same thing until Ida34 pointed out that it was not the case, so I take no offense at your raising the issue. Re-examine the...

    Dead batteries

The standard CUCV system uses a pair of 12V alternators, but the isolated ground allows the passenger alternator to only worry about it's own 12V battery. But, it does NOT charge both batteries. It's ground is referenced to the negative post (which just happens to be the positive post of the...

    10 Ton M125 Repaint

I thought the entire length was doubled. Air brakes, but not the newer spring-brake type like the 900's. Lose air and you lose brakes!
