    Pull Start??

The pull-start handle can be found under the passenger seat. Sometimes, the recoil springs stick a little, but just pull the rope gently after it's starts and it'll usually go back in. :P

Exactly why their customer service is so terrible. They have this standard answer at the front lines and you need to argue with them or quote state statutes to get to the point where they say "We made a mistake. Sorry." A simple training session for customer service people: If it's vehicle...

When do lockers outperform tire chains?

Actually, it was the last statement in my first post. 8) "...In snow, chains win hands down" Cranetruck, You are right. A side-slope is the type of terrain where a locker might be better. Like I said, IMHO: It's more about tires and terrain than anything else. Bkubu, I'm with you. Let me...

What does CTIS offer that you can't do "by hand"?

RE: What does CTIS offer that you can Yeah, but you're driving while they are inflating/deflating... Edit... Jasonjc beat me to it...

When do lockers outperform tire chains?

Very good point about one wheel on the ground. Of course, with 2 rear axles and 20,000lbs on top, you're not usually in a position to have a rear wheel from each rear axle off the ground. It can happen for sure, but no many do much rock crawling with their 5-ton... it would be cool to watch, though.

What does CTIS offer that you can't do "by hand"?

RE: What does CTIS offer that you can Well, given than CTIS ws first available on the DUKW, I would say not. The computer has just been adapted to make it easier for an 18-year old soldier/marine to think about the mission and not worry about his tire pressures. Just pick an appropriate terrain...

When do lockers outperform tire chains?

I'm not sure this is really an apples to apples question. A tire chain improves the "bite" of a single tire/wheel. Lockers do nothing to provide additional "bite" for the tires. They have similar effects, but it's not really a great comparison. With that said, the terrain and tire design have...

Robyn, Any idea when that might occur??? And who are these people who say this? I need to meet them and learn their secrets!

Which US MVs have locking diffs?

While neither used true "lockers", the Mighty Mites and Mules were more or less in the "locked" category. I think Mighty Mites used a limited slip type (once again, the Marines knew it worked for them), while the Mule axles just didn't have a differential unit, so those axles were solidly locked...

Which US MVs have locking diffs?

M939 is the series, just like M809 or M39. The cover of the 24P manual I have says: TECHNICAL MANUAL UNIT, DIRECT SUPPORT, AND GENERAL SUPPORT MAINTENANCE REPAIR PARTS AND SPECIAL TOOLS LIST FOR TRUCK, 5-TON, 6X6, M939, M939A1, M939A2 SERIES TRUCKS (DIESEL) Then, it goes into the individual...

Wow man, don't sweat it. I was only yanking your chain about that... I guess I should have added the  I just don't like to see anyone give up on it out of frustration, becuase it's a major sore spot with GL for me. Maybe I just need to let it go.... breath... breath... OK. Much better. At...

Robyn, Yes, I know GL refunds the tax if an error is made. But, that's usually only if the buyer jumps through hoops to prove that they should not have been charged it in the first place. I know, I've done it several times. I was only partially kidding about getting a part of the money not...

Rebelpride, I thought we were done with the subject, but you sound like you're laying down on this one (shame on you), so here's your proof: O.C.G.A. § 48-8-3 GEORGIA CODE TITLE 48. REVENUE AND TAXATION CHAPTER 8. SALES AND USE TAXES ARTICLE 1. STATE SALES AND USE TAX PART 1...

    "buyer load only"

Does the truck run? If you don't know, does your friend have the means to drag the truck onto his trailer (Landoll or equivalent)? As Bruce pointed out, there is NO assistance. There's no forklift or tractor to push the truck with, etc... You might get lucky at certain sites and find a helpful...

Robyn, First, even though I'm not the one with the problem, I appreciate the fact that you are trying to help. Unfortunately, I get the feeling you are only a step above us on that GL totem pole. And we're pretty low... It's kind of funny, in a sad, pathetic way, but usually the vendor doesn't...

Found a great video on youtube from fording kit testing

That's a classic, for sure. I still get a kick out of the "mermaids thumbing a ride" every time I watch it.

    fuel screw on IP

Check the Banks turbo installation manual in the Technical Articles section (about 2/3 down the page). It details the adjustment at the end. It's a little too much to go into here. FYI: The manual talks about 1/4 turn, but for the old Banks Stinger kit (intake and exhaust only - no turbo), Banks...

M746/M747 Ward LaFrance Heavy Equipment Transport Spare Part

I was actually referring to the tractor, since that's what most of the parts seemed to be related to. The trailers are not that uncommon, but the tractors are a different story.

    Tapping noise

Hard to start could also be glow plugs you mentioned, so you might want to get those replaced before trying to troubleshoot this problem. I hold the pedal 1/2 way whenever I start my trucks. That's the way these are supposed to be started. It just gives them a little extra fuel to fire over on...
