    Contact Maintenance truck M1008

Interesting... What is the NSN on your Mfr. data plate? What about the GVW and curb weights? How about the 3rd character of the VIN? Anything is possible and I can see them doing it if they didn't have any M1031's available, but what's the point of just swapping t-cases and driveshafts if...

    Contact Maintenance truck M1008

Re: RE: Contact Maintenance truck M1008 319, The M1028A1 is a converted M1031 (at least every one I've seen), so it's really the same. The Dodge body didn't require the PTO (driven by the NP-205 of the M1031), so you could really put it on anything, including an M1008, but as JohnFire said...

    wreckers?

Even though you'll find it in some older TM's, the 900 series tractor wrecker (M933) is a mythical beast that wasn't actually produced.

    Dead batteries

I do not have any #'s for them, but I believe they were all made in '87. I have seen probably 20-30 over the years, and they have all been 1987's.

    Dead batteries

Do you leave the master light toggle switch on all the time? In my experience, that was a bad idea... Kills the front battery, if I remember right.

    m1008 or m1028?

Like AJMBLAZER said, winter driving can be a little dicey with a front posi on the street, but man will it make a difference when you are going straight or offroad. I drove my old M1028A3 up a fairly steep slope on my property in about 12" of snow and backed it back down, then back up, then back...

Looking for CUCV parts in MD/PA/DE area

If anyone has these items or knows who might (locally), please let me know. I am looking for the following: -Complete M1009 tailgate (the usual rust is OK) OR a window handle (with lock cylinder) and tailgate glass -Complete passenger side door -One tailgate side latch and bolts (part that...

M1008 VS M1028 for Fuel Ecconomy?

    The problem is that people are used to seeing meaningless civvy ratings, but the military is VERY LITERAL with their ratings. 5/4-ton = 2500lbs. 3/4-ton = 1500lbs. M1008 payload = 2900lbs. minus 400lb. crew weight = 2500lb. = 5/4-ton M1009 payload = 1200lbs. = 3/5-ton The M1009 rating is...

is this a M1008 Dana rear axle?

RE: Re: RE: more photos of rear axle Besides the pinion, another quick way to tell is the hub, if you can't see the diff cover. The D70HD has a much longer hub and wheel studs to accomodate the dual wheels and the spacers.

    CUCV 4x4 question

Start looking. On a M1008, if it ain't in low, it's in neutral, so i would lean toward hubs or t-case problem.

    13G glow plugs

Re: RE: 13G glow plugs You can wire the GP relay to the 12V junction block, instead of the resistor, but it pulls from one battery and you can't slave it, etc, etc...
