FMJ,
I think it might have been here...

I actually bought it from Gomer's (US Diesel Parts), since I had bought from them previously and they matched the price. They...
I don't remember the exact date, but the 7 digit odometers were not used until around 1989 or 1990. They might have replaced the stock one, but I'm almost certain it didn't come off the assembly line with that one.
Very cool truck! It looks really clean.
I'm not sure the fuel economy increase will be terribly noticeable. It's a better improvement when towing than when un-loaded, but that's only if you can keep your foot out of it... :) I put the kit on my civvy truck last year and it's a noticeable power adder. It makes it feel like a stout...
Any shackle that is close to the right size with a 1-inch pin will be around $35 each new. The last set I watched on eBay went for $35 for the pair.
The most important measurement is between the ends. It has to fit over the mount that sticks out of the bumpers. I can't remember right now what...
Michael pic shows it. The drivers side fender, right behind the hood hinge. The lines can be seen running across the firewall in the original picture posted by 84cucv1ton. They run down under the cab on the passenger side.
As was pointed out, this is an M1028 with the M1010 charging system. From what I have been able to find out, they were a limited run of 1987 trucks that were specially ordered this way to provide the 200-amp capacity of the M1010 for the comm stuff. The A/C was sort of a a side-effect of how...
Re: RE: M1008 Death Wobble Dangerous side effect
You might be remembering the frame brace that was a retrofit for '85 and earlier trucks (the factory started installing it in mid-late '85), but it was not a steering box brace. It braces the frame right under the firewall, where the frame turns...
Did you remove both snap-rings (inner that sits in axle shaft and outer lock ring that sits in the groove in the hub)?
The grease can be sticky, so thread 2 of the bolts that hold the selector knob back into the holes in the body and tug on them to get it out.
Jeff was pretty upset about it, which is what led me to have that particular "random thought". As I said "...the details are not known to me...". If no agreements were broken, then everyone can rightfully feel like upstanding citizens. If any were broken, it's low. No accusations or regrets...
I must have missed that when I dozed off on page 6 or so...
Will you be attempting to negotiate the future flat rate based on the click-through rate?
I'd hate to think the convenience doesn't have some other benefit.
Man, I need to stop working for a living and check this site more often!
My random thoughts after reading almost all of the 7 preceding pages.
--I don't like GL's advertising here, but they are in business to make money, so I understand it.
--This will drive up prices on the advertised lots...
They're not really rated to tow anything substantial.... AS for PTO, I believe Kevin at Leonard Grove's place had a mule with a PTO of some sort that was used to operate a dump bed. I remember it selling on eBay several years ago to Dave Kelone for $2500, but I don't have the details. I think...
Sometimes they just get pulled for whatever reason. Sometimes they change the lot number, although they don't usually do that after the bidding has already begun...
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Small update on my truck.
Don't overlook the obvious (seems to happen a lot):
While you are cranking it and it's not starting, is there any smoke puffing from the exhaust pipes? If not, then there's no fuel to even try and light off, regardless what the glow plugs are...
