Since it doesn't have its own thread, and my M105A2 is exclusively used with my deuce and a half, I guess I'll talk about it too in this thread.
I just finished installing the M103 chassis shocks. I purchased these used from Big Mike's in October 2015. They came from a mobile kitchen trailer...
I'm glad you found some of this thread helpful!
The installation is complete. I actually had to take a sledge hammer to the inside of the left frame rail as the edge was bent down slightly, making it very difficult to get the upper shock mount in place. There is a notch at the bottom of the...
I reviewed the original pictures more closely and realized that I messed up. I had placed the left side upper mount on the right side. Of course this means I now have two extra holes on the right side frame. Maybe those will get welded up whenever the trailer gets restored (if ever).
Anyway...
I've shelved this, relatively straight forward project for too long. After inspecting my trailer, I see that shock mounting holes do not already exist in the frame.
Would someone who has a variant of the M103 frame with these shocks please measure how far the top mount is placed back from the...
A wet lead acid battery that is 9 years old? I am sure that is well past their life expectancy of likely ~5-7 years. I'd sell them to a recycler or use them for the core charge on new batteries (which ever nets you more money or is easiest). You can purchase the exact replacement batteries, or...
Hey Goldy, welcome to the site and hobby!
Here's a helpful thread for when you tear into the hubs to replace seals, grease the bearings, and check the brakes:

I forgot to post about last month when I converted my rear shackles to the captured "safety-pin" style like the front.
https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?167360-Valence-s-1972-M35A2&p=2016035&viewfull=1#post2016035
I wanted the rear shackles to be as easy to take on/off as the front...
That is the front leg mounting clamp for probably an M49 Gun ring. I don't know about the M135, but on the M35's, it was pretty standard. I can see the u-bolts (two each side), that would hold the two rear legs, still hanging on the back of your truck's cab...
There'd have to be quite a bit of underlying code change to help smooth the difference between portrait and landscape pictures, but that's a horse of a different color.
The vast majority of my thousands of pictures uploaded *are* JPG, but sometimes strange incompatibilities arise, or a picture...
Well JPG is a lossy image format due to compression, and my experience with MS Paint is that it saves JPGs with high compression, which makes the image very grainy and just looks bad. Hence, I choose to save the images that I edit as PNG, as it doesn't increase the file size very much, and then...
It seems that PNG files upload to a smaller resolution than JPG files.
Using Firefox 54.0.1 (32-bit)
Windows 10 Professional 64-Bit, Version 1607, OS Build 14393.1480
Yes, the PNG's have been edited (in Windows Paint) and cropped (in Windows 10 default photo viewer), but the PNG files are...
Do you have any pictures of yours? Maybe we can help.
Also, it's a bit of a read, but worth it:

If you don't know when it was last done, you probably should service all the axle ends so you can inspect the...
The above are all good sources for the stencils.
Not alone by a long shot! Check the top two links in my signature for the Utah Military Vehicles Club, or the nice group we have on Facebook (there's some overlap in the two).
Also, I sure hope you're doing a Vintage Registration (no safety, no...
As promised, here are the pictures I took:
Gas Shock# 6104 (qty 2)
As can be seen, it was designed to use all existing bolts & holes in the firewall and hood. There was no drilling needed, but I would recommend someone to give a hand holding the bolt head in the engine compartment while you're...
Since you don't have any need for the empty wheel wells on the trailer bed, before you raptor line it, I'd recommend cutting out the wheel wells and making it flat. You'd probably want to add supports under that section too. Then some grinding and touch up paint. Over simplifying the work...
I bought this system from BBQROD in 2014, and it is true, it completely raises itself.
Tonight I will take pictures for you of the mounts and part numbers for the shocks so, if you're so inclined, you can make your own.
I think Erik's has the best prices, but maybe higher shipping. Though from southern California to Utah is 2-day shipping - I love that. Though Erik's probably has the more difficult website to navigate while Big Mike's is the easier - except if you're on a mobile web browser. Then, for some...
As most military vehicle owners I, yet again, participated in the my city's Independence Day parade on July 4th. I believe this marks the 6th or 7th year that I've done so. I can't remember if I participated in 2011 or not, so far I can only find documented proof that I did so starting in 2012...
