fully dropped like that, there may be more damage than a ruined piston .. But of course taking the head off is the only way to know .. I have gotten lucky when I ran across a stuck exh valve here and there that only got bent a hair by piston, leaving a very slight mark on piston .. I would say...
i learned a few years ago not to throw things, cuz :
1: likely wouldn't be able to find it in a hurry because i was too mad to watch where it landed
2: forgotten it was lost by the time I get time to try looking for it again
3: This step is because of #2.. Cussing and swearing when it's not...
I always liked their front design more than the M44-series deuces . .Had a XM211 long ago and almost bought a nice clean M215 discovered (with tons of jimmy stuff in an estates collection I did not know about) , 30 miles down the road from me .. But sanity came into my head and told me I cannot...
Having a "Soldier-B" is always easier/quicker when trying to do timing marks, cummins overheads, etc .. I have only had that luxury a few times and it is sorely missed, especially now that myself and everyone I know that was physically/mentally capable in the past ,. including myself, is now...
Well-said about "self-serving" manufacturers that don't get into the nitty-gritty, and I am clearly not qualified to be the first to burst your bubble.. But I might make it jiggle just a little bit.. Firstly I have no experience with vehicle-mounted IR other than the tanks but I was not a...
years ago I went round and round between 4 different auto parts stores whose books or computers said this or that were exact fit replacements, and most of us on here know just how that story goes .. just wanted to share something I did, having parts from scrapped trucks laying around and a...
wow this is news to me .. Had driven and been around many M151's, A1's and A2's during my lengthy service .. Never saw no other than the typical round-hole steel rims on mutt-related stuff .. this is very interesting and making me want to re-visit old pics etc
I concur with NDT above .. However if you do an adjustment and it still wants to creep or shift hard, it is rare but it does happen that the clutch disk could be beginning to delaminate or is warped... Another thing i have had happen was the clutch disc was sticky/gummy from having an engine...
I have recently discovered one of the tanks on my M817 has a steel pickup tube, and coincidently the one I started having trouble running the engine from, last week after the tank got less than 3/4 full :( .. Filled it and it ran fine .. Yup, pinholes
why not just drill/tap the plate , use a double-ended manifold-style bolt or threaded rod cut to your needed length, and spot-weld it from turning? If your stud-gun welder cant do it, maybe since you don't indicate the thickness of the plate nor the expected torque of the nut to hold whatever...
when you get around to working on that engine, here is the baseline sound of one .. Mine breathes better due to an enlarged muffler outlet with 4" tailpipe, but "that sound" is what you will be looking for ....
yes I had read somewhere a number of the gassers went back to Mack to be re-motored with the ENDT in the 1960's.. However, there are some mack 5T's still around with the R6602 although few and far between .. And thank you G744 for indicting you had a M62 Mack .. Now I know Diamond-T and Mack...
We must not forget Mack made a small number of the early 5-ton gassers as well .. I ran into a couple Mack gassers over the decades, and Diamond-T seems to have produced a larger number of 5T gassers than Mack, since I have bumped into several.. But IH built by far the lion's share of 5T gassers...
I concur.. For those unfamiliar, the sealed bid and listing method of all four DRMO's I interacted with had no pictures of items, and it was all done through the mail.. It was very frustrating when you'd get the "bid results" letter and find out the winner outbid you by just a "few" bucks...
as is with all of our other trucks, it is a work truck ... Was having its sprag tested after being serviced for being sticky / non-functional .. We don't do any extreme off-roading with any of them, except decades ago with the "XM38A5" .. However they all continue to do off-road/on-road tasks...
my pic below is obviously not a deuce, but a deuce would have very little problem doing the same stunt, stock... as far as what the M35A2 in your posted vid #3 is doing, having one with shorter wheelbase (ie: bobbed) , no winch, and more tire height would not have bottomed out on the riverbank...
