Gotta love them!
I started mine in the cold a couple of weeks ago, same results, it fired right up no issues.had my welder plugged in and it didn't even phase it.
cant wait for the weather to warm a bit so I can tackle the stator job on my other set.
Putting a flare on the end of steel tubing to help hold a rubber hose from slipping off is pretty easy. If you dont have a flaring kit, Autozone will loan you the tool for free.
If one is going to get involved with hard lines, might just as well just get the right fittings and do the complete...
The tongue on that trailer is very poorly designed. A tongue should extend under the frame of a trailer to take the direct stresses off the welds......which are now being transfered directly to a butt joint forward of the frontmost cross member.
Don't hate the messenger.
Red is better at not disturbing your night vision. The human eye is much more sensitive to green than red.
Imagine having green tail lights on vehicles?
Not to be too controvercial but fixing/repairing a "source" of power to accomplish its published and designed output capability within its specified parameters is completely different from applying that same source of power to a circuit.
I'll second the "call an electrician" motion.
Electricity acts in a split second and when things are wired wrong, it can cause major catastrophic damage.
Three holes, one under each battery tray 2"+- round, and the square hole between them in center is 6"x6".
Good luck with the tape. Don't forget, that particular hole is prone to fuel and oil residue so tape on it might be short lived.
I and many others have used pop rivets. A couple of tiny...
I don't know off the top of my head but will ask a guy in a motor rewind/repair shop. He might know. Will post my findings as soon as I speak with him.
The stuff used in the windings is to stabilize the wire from vibration and by all appearances also adds an insulation factor.
For the exposed...
That is correct, the neutral is not used only the two hots 180 out of phase, thats why you can load L1 and L3 output terminals with no other connections and operate a 240v device.
Thanks, Thats encouraging! I'll be tackling a stator swap and rotor cleaning as soon as weather permits. Got my set mounted at a good working height, have tractor with forks to lift it out.
Hope things work out well for you.
Curious as to what made the engine bad?
You'll need a 12v starter, 12v alternator, 12v gauges and sending units for temp, oil pressure, 12v fuel pump.
No reason the engine won't work, but you might have to mess with the governor. I've not had one of these engines down at a low rpm idle as the governor wants to bring it back up to...
A little progress today, unboxed the new stator going into one of my sets and rang out the windings and tested for shorts to ground.....all tested good. A little clean up and some paint and it will be ready to install.
Also, trying to work smarter not harder so I had a couple of roller stands...
