    Rear axle seal leak

When we did axle seals on 5-tons up to a decade ago, double-lip seals were available, some even shared the same part number as the singles which is odd. On occasion we were told by suppliers that some triple-lips (flange) had been located at certain warehouses thus we got those too.. I...

    Rear axle seal leak

hate it when that happens !!! .. what also can happen is if one pushes in on the impact, sometimes the square hole in the dual-purpose socket engages with the inner stud , the result is the same ... I found out the hard way, more than once the same morning,, until I figured out what was going...

    My first multifuel?

i just noticed you have a 2020 .. I have a 2510 (that's a 3020 with a 2020 engine) plus a 4010-D, and my ladyfriend has a 2520 (that's a 3020 with a 2030 engine) .. All are good engines except hers has the infamous cracking at the top of the block around the cylinder liners .. Had any problem...

    My first multifuel?

why does that look like a slate pile in background ? There's slate quarries in France too ?! .. oh, sorry, nice wrecker. :ROFLMAO:

    My first multifuel?

I believe it. The incident I mentioned was the only time I ever saw it happen. A fluid leak was determined to be the cause of the mico-brake release . Driver negligence was determined to be the cause of the runaway .. No chocks, e-brake not set, truck not in gear, parked unattended on a slight...

    My first multifuel?

True, as I don't recall seeing a M816 , M246, or M62 wrecker without one.. However, I have seen many level winders on engineer company M51's and M817's while I was still "in," about 70% did not have a level winder. Many years later, 3 dumps I obtained from DRMO's had level wind (all from...

    My first multifuel?

yes Mico makes them and i was referring to one being used in the 1980's in the '74 1800 -series Loadstar that ran away... The ones I recall in 1950's-1970's trucks were a lever-lock type with "Micro-Lock Corp" or "Micro Loc" or "Micro Lok" on the dash plate at the handle or lever, some were...

M246 in the busted hydraulic hose club

we are trained professionals, don't try this circus trick at home. ... equally impressive is the geyser coming from a busted hose on a 36ft triaxle dump trailer with most of the load still aboard o_O .. Well, I lied, I am being too nice... A dump trailer hose blowout might make Old Faithful jealous

M246 in the busted hydraulic hose club

It Shuuuuure Is an impressive sight ! , and I am taking about the fast-mover heading to the cab without taking a nasty tumble from a slick deck ! haha (not funny at the time though!! ). .. The inside of the drivers door on our M62 will never rust for quite some time to come...

    Inquiry on "rating"

Both my M880 and M890 have the ribbed HD rear axle housing , Neither of the W200's I owned had a ribbed rear axle, but they had helper springs.. You posted a bunch of good data, I no longer have any W200 manuals thus don't recall their load rating

M246 in the busted hydraulic hose club

Anything that would deflect a stream or spray of high-pressure oil from hitting you is better than nothing at all, even a wood 1x12 or whatever fastened along the pipe surface would seem to be adequate.. I am not a prof engineer but 18 or 20-gauge 4" or 6" stove pipe oval'd around the op station...

M246 in the busted hydraulic hose club

I concur with others that you should make some sort of shield for any type of line that's within the operator station .. Not saying you have ever considered the following, but some reading this may or may have .. Everyday NPT iron pipe including sch80 is usually not rated high enough for this...

    M42 duster

wish you luck .. i can't answer your question but I had a column of them blow by me on a tank trail decades ago , they seemed to be fairly quick buggers .. I managed to somehow snap a pic of one of them perfectly framed in the pass window of my M52A1 as we were running at speed parallel to each...

    New owner questions

the implication holds true for the same tactical gauges used in every size of military truck and piece of equipment fielded .. You could temporarily thread a mechanical gauge into the sender hole to test what you actually have, and put a multimeter across the batteries as well, to see the...

    Leak

one thing I have run into with my 5-tons (and the same probably holds true with deuces) is that some seal numbers cross to other seals that are same fit/dimensions but are NOT the same as your seal .. the most major of differences is that you should insist the supplier get you double-lip seals...
