    1968 Mack M123A1C 10 ton Tank Transporter

nice project going on !! This could start a debate whether the M123 hauled a lot more big dozers than big armor .. Coming from a former Trans NCO of an Armor BN and baptized by Engineers before that, my money is on dozers .. lol

MEP002A low voltage on one leg.

I concur with Triple Jim. .. As for the low voltage it was putting into the house, that will depend on wire size and distance of it from genny .. Without other end connected at house you might want to turn volt knob till your meter shows 125V on phase-neutral side of the phase readout selector...

    Green 383 paint

Excellent question .. We have never sprayed CARC but depending on the hardener, other paints call for different amounts depending on the paint, as you probably already know .. Got one M818 that lost almost all of its CARC on the Interstate when I hauled it out of FIG Pa many years ago. Flakes...

    early-80's armor field ops

My friend was a TC / Platoon Leader with 172nd armor from VT, under the 86th BDE, a long-time combat arm of the 50th AD. Before that, the 86th was a combat arm of the 43rd ID in the Pacific theater '42-'45.. He was not part of the Ft Hood incident that night but was participating in a different...

CDL Requirements for 5 Tons (m934)

Is a good route to go, and NY does have Historical plates , done it on some trucks in the past but it was too restrictive for the wide range of things we were doing at the time.. There are restrictions on useage such as no hauling loads, no trailers, (but hauling people in parades apparently...

CDL Requirements for 5 Tons (m934)

Technically, it's 26001# and over .. I know, heard it before, "dee tails, deet shmails so what?" You will need the specific endorsement that covers the air brake situation, but they cannot "CDL" an RV .. It doesn't hurt to have decals "Private Coach" on your doors

    1978 M416A1 Rebuild

Tires? ... I have a half-dozen for the M416 and M151, brand new, never mounted .. Sorry there's a catch. Apparently a military Maint Shop put a pickaxe through one sidewall of each of them, and the DRMO people made sure it didn't show in the auction pics. But they did list them as Code H .. Uggg

What have you done to your JEEP today

Walked past my M38A1 sitting with its body half apart under the pines.. Heard myself say the motor was probably stuck by now... Heard my other self say it was the same thing I had said the decade before :cautious:

    Central FL M1031 project

One thing i ran across with "today's" replacement brake hoses is that they can swell up internally, and this includes OEM as well as ones from NAPA and we all can suspect where they were made. This situation may be well-known by everyday mechanics, but it had me perplexed thinking the new...

    Central FL M1031 project

Never could justify the expense of the Imron on trucks etc that were exposed to potential jobsite damage everytime out . . But I know that was really good stuff, a friend of mine did a lot of custom hotrod and truck repaints for people with it .. The fanciest good stuff we ever used was good-old...

those VOCs are what made my uncle a very funny guy at the end of any day he had been in the paint booth .. :ROFLMAO: He worked in that shop after the navy from 1945 to 1985, lived to be 98 Should not infer horrible things about the EPA, They are from the government. They are here to help...

    US Air Force lettering

Although not M880/890's, the pair of 1977 USAF dodge crew cabs obtained at Plattsburg AFB for the town in the mid-80's had white lettering on the front doors of same font used by the army on its commercial vehicles in the late-70's-early 80's , both with no periods after the "U" or "S" .. Have...

LMTV/FMTV Dump trucks - worth it?

Likely it's same situation as it has been for all models of dump trucks, dozers, graders, tanker trucks, etc.., going back well into the 1980's, if not before ... They get snatched up by the US Forest Service, as well as state OGS's for redistribution to highway depts and state forest service...

Anyone ever half cover a deuce cargo bed?

Not totally odd, the trailer cover is a good idea. But although a pain, on a full cover you can roll up the sides or fold them up underneath (looks the best) or flip them up on top of themselves and tie them together on top of the bows, just to have shade like a bikini top over the entire bed...

Finding the "good" wheel cylinder kits...

PMCS PMCS PMCS PMCS !!! None of our trucks (mil or civvie) ever hit the road without a pre-trip , including the brake fluid level check on the mil trucks .. They also get checked at intervals during the operating day. Cracked hoses, rusted lines at the retaining straps, and leaky wheel...

    Central FL M1031 project

good to know... paint sure isn't nothing like it used to be .. Last total repaint done was a loader/backhoe in 2008 using an expensive automotive top-brand of Mack Red .. Within 5 years the red turned purple-ish, today it is surface rust... Very disappointed. Have a '51 truck cab that got...
