Your arm strength is not supposed to hold any powered work being done. If it does, the clutches aren't adjusted correctly. It's all about leverage. The "clutches" look like and operate like oversize automotive brake shoes. Hand levers move the clutch shoes to engage the drums to provide working...
well this is how cheap i am because I have way too much equip and trucks to outfit. I visit two automotive junkyards selling a selection of 900+CA top-post batteries for $35-40ea. yes, they are used. Most are only a year or two old. One place guarantees up to a year at full replacement, the...
Same here, 70's into the 90's.. On my own stuff I don't bother buying official winch covers. I'm not for show. Instead I use surplus GI canvas covers with straps that were under $10ea from armysurpluswarehouse. I think they were for kitchen field equip but are large enough to cover halfway...
Funny. but Ben Roberts is correct. Something else happened here. This B17 managed to make a landing. It was not a "fall out of the sky" kind of crash. Whatever was wrong with an engine(s) is a minor factor. For some reason this plane got off-course and rolled into a structure, ruptured a fuel...
Good job ! I have a bad 350 sitting here with jake heads, hoping to someday drop the jakes into an M817 which sees a lot of steep downgrades loaded. Although I have a custom-modified jake/turbo hood from a parted-out M818 we scrapped long ago, I want to retain original hoodline and was not...
yes, the M915A3's are basically a 1990's-early 2000's FLD120 setback axle with an automatic .. My 2000 FLD120 w/std fuller and series-60 averages 7mpg on northeast interstates with my foot in it but I've never grossed over 60,000 with that particular truck. I would assume (bad word!) one loses 2...
fasttruck says it like it is , we were taught a similar jingle about cat eyes except ours was 4 is fine .. blackout was not just for air defense. It also was to be effective against land-based OPFOR weaponry beyond a certain distance.. ya can't hit a target you can't see .. blackout lighting...
I capped all their stacks with old rubber feed buckets and then stretched pink party balloons over their intakes rofl (oops I hope I didn't cause people to not be able to have parties .. )
Can you please explain how this came about? The cargo bed, cab, tranny, xfer, & axles are the same, yes. But the frame ahead of the firewall is much longer on the M809-series. Does yours have gusseted frame extensions for the M809-series cummins 250? thanks
I have never seen any until today. here it is march 2020 and an M813A1 is still in the system (w/ air brakes ? !) at auction on GP. There is also an additional step box I've never seen as well. Truck nomen tag indicates 1985 contract
30 to 40 years ago, local FD's were installing chev 350's w/chev trannies/xfers in their M715'sthat were convert3ed to tanker/brush trucks and hose reel trucks. Regardless of which engine you go to, the mounts will have to be changed. The 350's have more than enough power if you keep the M715...
yeah, my big green trucks, trailers, and generators are never welcomed UNLESS they need them to do something beneficial for them . when the projects are done, they want to get rid of the green stuff . I've told each wifey if the green stuff goes, so do I. Been there, done that , and not...
I believe the weird sand "island" seen below drivers windshield glass is somebody's oops. When you repaint the mutt and if you desire correctness, you might not want to replicate exactly what you have on it. I suggest you refer to the correct pattern shown for this vehicle in TB43-0209 and/or...
ask for the manager/superintendent... encourage them to put in writing what exactly the problem is , and/or have a partner video the interaction . you will need hard evidence in order to sue for discrimination .. However, if the problem is due to the conversion not being inspected/certified for...
They CAN bind up by design, just about all taper valves can. You certainly can try replacing it .. but as I mentioned prior, I wouldn't replace it until trying fuel lubricants . 7 of my trucks use these valves and have no problem with them sticking (except for the one mishap mentioned)...
Correct, only because of the hack jobs sometimes done to the grille and dash. Better to start fresh if someone wants to have a BO kit ! I've seen some with 12x12 holes in the grille and jigsaw mis-cuts on the dashes. However I do think the majority were done well. While I'm on this peeve, I...
