I slept in an M109 at Maccus' place in Custer 2008, we did a cross country trip to the Pacific Ocean that summer. On our way home we went to The Little Bighorn, Mt Rushmore and Maccus' homestead, they set us up to do oil changes and lube jobs when we pulled in. Then we ate........and ate and...
The secondary/final gasket number is Napa #5070
The primary gasket number is Napa #5131
The oil gasket is Napa # 5119 it is a fiber gasket and is correct.
These are all good numbers, I buy them 100 at a time.
Thank you DH, you are a gentleman. Maybe G will post a verificaation for me?
If anyone sends me pics of the recovery last Saturday, I will put them on SS. It was really something
First, I did a search.
Can anyone give me a civilian part number for the 5 ton PTO output seal on an M39 deries which should also be the 800 series PTO for the forward facing out put shaft for the winch driveshaft?
I bent my drive shaft Saturday pulling out a pickup built on 5 ton axles...
What RPM are you turning at 60 MPH with a 1008 ? I have 2 of them and I can't stand the scream at 55. I put 255/85R-16 tires on one of them and it helps a lot but it's expensive. JT
If anyone is old enough to remember buying at auction from DRMO, This stuff didn't happen. It was cut and dried. And......... you always knew who you were bidding against whether on line or on site. This is a much tougher bunch to deal with and in my experience, you never win even if you are...
Doghead covered the technicalities, do what he said so you learn a lot about your new truck.
But, cause I was a newbie too, that is a pipe plug, stored in the boss off to the side. You install it in the open hole only when you are going to deep water ford the truck.
However, don't deep...
I met John more than 10 years ago and will never forget how cordial he was to this yankee and my young son. I lost another old friend 2 days ago after a swarm of bees stung him to death, I am pretty much in shock over these 2 men. Life is so fragile, we should all enjoy each sunrise, and never...
It would take a lot of time and money to develop a good US made set of lock out hubs for the 5 ton trucks. Just copying one of the few existing lockouts for the 5 ton Rockwell axle would be expensive, and I would not copy an existing design, but redesign for durablity and originality. I...
I like the Michelin chevron pattern on the steering axle and I like the Goodyear stagger block pattern on the rear axle. I measure the circumferences and match them up. 60 PSI in the fronts and 50 PSI in the rears for highway driving. And........they were the only 4 tires I had that were good...
I finally finished mine, the one that I started back when John Appel started this post. I stayed with a 12 foot deuce bed for a balanced look like the WWII fwd HAR-1 , A 4 Ton truck with single rear axle. Pictures attached
It looks like 24087 Olive Drab, Semi Gloss. If so, it is correct for Vietnam era issued trucks. As they were repainted over there, some people added a little black paint to the semi gloss to darken it. As the gun trucks evolved year to year, many, even most, were painted black. JT
At 9:15 am Saturday, the grounds are full of vendors and display vehicles, Jack Welch of Redball has arrived with his beautiful GPA amphibious jeep, the great LVCP landing craft is here on site, Warren D has debuted his Gun Beep, "Boonie Rat" at this show . It is a beauty with a pair of M60s up...
COMVEC is just a couple days away, I am loading the Gun Truck up tomorrow. I can bring items for people attending as long as you let me know what you are looking for. PM or email me tonight or tomorrow am. JT
