I was watching the news and saw the Taliban parade our equipment. Many of the HMMWV, trucks and other rolling thunder had white wall tires? Here is one picture I found.
Maybe they just painted them on. Looks like they also did some pin stripping on some of the vehicles too! Please tell me...
I have the same issue around here. There are certain things that I know will quickly get over my head. For example, alignment. I think the IP would be another. Plus anything that requires welding, which I cannot do.
What I did is call around to every shop that specializes in diesels. Most don't...
Gee wiz - for the price you would think the adapter plates would not be crap!
When I snugged down the mounting bolts, the plastic "plate", which is printed, compressed and the bolt and washer and did not leave a lot of material to hold it on. I would not be surprised when the plate just breaks...
Yes, you have to call around!
After making the rounds, I found one shop local that was willing to do an alignment. But they found some bad bushings and bearings on the right front. I had to order the parts and bring it back. I was super grateful that someone was willing to do the alignment...
I rigged the lights on my rig to automatically go into Service Drive without doing anything by default. My goal was making it street legal, and not give LEO any excuse to pull me over here in Florida if I forgot to manually turn them on. So the reverse lights work no matter what when called for.
I did this a couple years ago, so please pardon me if I do not remember all the specifics.
First, get some nutserts and use them to mount the shifter instead of having to fight bolts above and nuts below when installing the shifter.
Second, I hat paying the HMMWV tax, so I made up my own...
The Odyssey battery I bought had a separate terminal and bolt meant for taping power. I put a red vinyl terminal cover over both + terminals so the extra terminal did not short accidentally. The big red covers the covers the whole terminal did not cover this extra battery terminal.
I think you meant them for military HMMWV, not the civi - try these:

And don't have a stroke when you see the price! :devilish:
OMG! I have a friend that is a member of the East Coast Cruisers that run car shows in the Daytona Beach area. He brings his purple M998 that has FL plates from long ago. I hope it was not him that got his title revoked by the Gestapo at one of his shows he works!
I used the Vermont route. I...
No strange noises?
I recently replace my pump on the same platform and found it really really picky about how it wants to be bled. I must have done it 5 times incorrectly until I figured out that as part of the documented procedure, it really, really wanted to wait a couple seconds at each left...
First, let me state that I am a novice on the HMMWV, but there are certain things you can do.
Start by unplugging the connector at on top of the dryer - the low pressure switch. With the AC turned on, engine running, you should see 24V on one of the leads in the connectors with a VOM. If you...
:ditto:
Be thankful that none of them are broken off, and rusted into the head like I have. Only one shop in town was willing to work on it and they wanted to R&R the heads and send them off to a machine shop to get them out. Easier to just R&R the entire engine! Now I understand why folks do...
I am a novice myself, but I would ask if you were given the correct (military) pump. I understand the civi pumps are different than the military ones. But maybe that is only on the internals.
When I did mine, I bolted the bracket to the pump first and then the assembly to the engine. Then I...
Not to hijack this thread, but I have a M998 and would like some clarifications to avoid the fuel pump vent problem. Is the correct procedure on a M998 to disconnect the vent line at the fuel pump and just then plug both ends? That simple?
I don't normal do shout outs but I think Federal Military Parts deserve one for their glass.
I ordered it from Bezos as it was cheaper with shipping than their own web site directly. I ordered on the 24'th and it arrived on the 1st- so shipping from MN to FL in a week over a holiday weekend is...
I was advised by a friend that applied carpet to the floors that it would gather mold, and you would get the smell and perhaps the dreaded black mold that is a health hazard. So he removed the carpeting he installed. But he fords his rig.
I don't ford my rig, or at least never have yet, so I...
