Using a pallet jack to install/remove super singles

I used a pallet jack when mounting the tires 1600 20 on my M920 and I had myself and a helper and it worked terrific but I can see having a second person to stabilize the tire was very helpful!

Some welding trucks for your perusal

Very nice fabrication and the layout is of your tools looks so very organized and accessible , a whole lot of thought went into your planning!! I have 1 question on the hummer welding setup, how does the hummer handle the load I mean from a power standpoint? Most all the hummers I have ever...

    5 ton owner...finally

Congrats on the 5 ton the 939 series are great trucks especially with the 855 series non-turbo engine, simple to work on very reliable as long as the maintenance is up to date! I know there is a placard in the truck but remember NOT to use low range in reverse or you will very possibly find out...

New Purchase Globe 10 ton trailer

I have no idea what you paid but it sure looks like a dandy of a trailer! With the empty weight of the trailer at 12K I would sure give the brakes a good looking at and testing it wont take long to un-cage them and IF you needed them you would sure be glad you took the time! Beautiful trailer...

    Bought myself a project! 1997 M1081

Sean congrats on the truck it looks like you have a good solid base to start on! As far as the historical side of the Deuce yes you are right but on the other hand you have a lot more user friendly versatile vehicle here and the parts needed to repair are going to much more common while you are...

    CA Hagerty Alternatives?

I would be tempted to look for a different carrier! Since they insured the truck before they do know what it is correct? Is this a CA thing, or just this carrier? There are thousands of trucks sitting around CA not in garages I wonder what makes your Deuce so different and obviously...

    LMTV pulls an Unimog out

There is nothing more a Unimog owner hates more than having to get pulled out, on the other hand after you get over the embarrassment factor it feels pretty darn good to be mobile again! Thats a darned nice looking 1088 and the S280 looks perfectly at home in the bed!! Good pull and in case...

    New Deuce Owner in SoCal

Congrats on the new purchase these are great trucks to cut your teeth on pretty straight forward in almost all ways! You can down load the TMs on this site and that would be the first place I would look at when getting into your wiring issues its all fairly easy when you see it all in one...

Making a deuce a reliable daily driver? Help make a to-do list?

This may have been asked or you may have already addressed it but are you going to put a shelter on the truck or are you going to build something? The S280 shelter is a very good unit and big enough that you can do a lot with it. Take your time and find one in very good condition my guess is...

The Once And For All On Batteries...

One thing to remember contracts like for batteries generally go to the lowest bidder who can meet the requirements specified. What does this mean to you is that you can put any decent quality battery in your truck and it will work fine, as you have already proven! The Military generally puts 4...

    Snow Handling

If you mounted a blade on the front of your hummer and its a real steel blade you just added about 600 pounds to your front end, thats GOOD! If you are running stock hummer military tires thats BAD they are to wide and spread your weight over to large an area to get decent traction. I think...

What batteties are recomended for use in the 5 tons and deuces?

Remember depending on what you need for starting in YOUR climate you can get by very easily with only two batteries in the 5 ton!

    M1078 abroad

Plasa I have not been to Europe but your area is certainly beautiful! As far as your bent brake lines, sh-t happens and doing what your doing is the BEST TEACHER by far! I know it can be a total pain at times but for what your doing the lessons learned will not be forgotten and as you learn...

57 Continental R6602 Recommended Fuel Octane

Paul you need to lose the Ethanol right away but I am guessing you have already caused some problems! First off just about any older military truck with a gasoline engine in it was setup to run some pretty crappy fuel hence the very low compression ratios running your truck on regular octane...
