I replaced mine with an aluminum one that was a bit different. Works fine. Ended up mounting it with some nice felt around the outside of it and press fitted it into a comfy bed in the housing with about the same angle as you see here...
Given me some great ideas as I am still looking into how to make a double tire carrier that will fit my pair of 16.00R20 spares. I have an S-280 in the back of mine and I am considering having both on swing out "door"arms on the back, one will be outside the rear tailgate and the second inside...
@US6x4 WOW all my hoses look brand new in comparison to what your holding onto there. Ruff!
Heater is in, I did a pre-test of it first in the kitchen. It begins to boil water in 4 seconds. I replaced the 1 1/2"x 3" long hoses, as I cracked a bit of the braided strands in them getting the drop...
I am finally getting around to doing an Antifreeze change and a block heater add in + a inline coolant filter which will be placed inline with the replacement heater core I purchased early this year.
To do this with a full flush I drained all what I could from the radiator then pulled the...
@NebraskaFan, you are correct on the hood. Unfortunately my hood is caved in up next to the cab and actually has been rubbing a hole through the hood where the chain lift plates of the motor have been rubbing on it. I am guessing from a bunch of our great boys in camo were climbing up on the...
Ended up buying 5 gallons of the NAPA SCA Precharged Concentrate Antifreeze. Friend has a Napa Commercial Acct and was able to get it to me for significantly less than the 22 dollars it normally goes for. I have some distilled water to mix it up with.
I will be adding a block heater (that...
I will be doing my anti-freeze flush soon and am looking to go 60/40 for the maximum low freeze point of Glycol/water mix. My question is anyone hear of any issues of SCA additives making the freeze point raise from this? or significantly affect the freeze point of the perfect 60/40 mix? Anyone...
Went to the Utah MV Summer outing up American Fork Canyon. Had a great time! Rig worked flawless and I even slept in the S-280 shelter which was awesome. Great times!
Will be heading to hit the next one for fall sometime in October.
Looks to be a steel wheel to me. Titan 5 ton combat wheel.

I have been looking at this same idea. I have a S-280 shelter now and am loving it. So much so that I am tinkering with the idea to get a M1082 or M1095 to keep a second one on. Some of the things I found that I liked was the M1082 was rated at 5000lbs offroad but weighs a bit over 6000 lbs...
@Superthermal Driving The BOT in the Provo Grand Parade in Utah. Usually 1/3 of a million people in attendance on the 4th of July.

Drove in the Provo Grand Parade in the Vietnam Era group. Somewhere around 330,000 people estimated to be in attendance. Followed an M35 that looked like it just came off the plane from Vietnam. That rig totally fitting the feel of the era. I felt ashamed I had even washed my tires! Twice...
When I pulled the Huchinson solid runflat out of the MTVR tire wheel combos I bought, and put them into my HEMTT wheels with 16.00R20 XZLs there was definitely a 3/8 or so compression of the inner bead-lock against the tire bead to ensure it is never going anywhere.
I did 9 gallons of 75w-90 Lucas Synthetic. (and the T-case and Transmission too) Since I did that I haven't noticed my outer hub leak into the drum on my two previously leaky seals. I would have normally seen a tiny bit of grease sling onto my inner side of my drivers side rear tires as has been...
