You have some great points in that. Just saying with the ones I used the bead-lock is an addition to the insert being a run flat. If the tires are not rotted dry they expect you can drive a bit over 100 miles on the tire before it needs to be changed. Inside my tires is a nice slather of...
I agree on having some kind of bead-lock insert. Knowing the tire cannot come off the rim and deflate is a piece of mind. I have the Hutchinson solid rubber beadlocks/runflats on mine and I can tell you they are tough as nails. Since I am thinking you may be running higher pressure with heavy...
I am still short on funds to get my winch set up finished. Still need the driveshaft, linkages, cable, cable chain loop, and frame extensions. I'll ask my friend who has a lot of winch experience with these on your thoughts of the operation as a brake is very important when using a winch. I was...
The hard top on my M813 like yours doesn't fit all that good either. Rolling up the windows to seal? Nope they don't seal so well. So what, lol. Not a deal breaker at all for me. The only way I could consider this "seal" to bet better would be to spend a serious amount of time to make a frame...
Just saying I feel let down! After reading 11 full pages of this thread I was thinking I was going to be reading here in the end how the end product worked and a list of parts for us all to benefit! LOL, However I did find a ton of info I am very grateful for! Thanks all.
This month I will...
So Clean!!!! That is an interesting manifold piece for the air side of the turbo, never seen one quite like it. That alternator would be sweet on my M813.
Where are people breaking their axle shafts for the 5ton Rockwell?
Front shafts?
1.Near hub on outer spline?
2.At joint for turning? Ball style vs Ujoint style... any different?
3.Inner mid part of shaft length? Short shaft vs Long shaft?
4.Inner shaft splines?
Did you have a locker or lockers...
That M809 series is looking so TUFF! I would be interested to know your turbo setup. If you have a post about it, if you would send me a link that would be cool of you.
On my M813 I am only doing 55 since that is the highest speed the tire is rated for. I have caught myself hitting 58 a few...
I have one to install on my M813 for a winch, someday that is. I got a set of gaskets, 2 in the bag, I was expecting to tighten it in dry and check the slop and then add or remove a gasket. Thanks for the pointer on the thickness.
Looks killer! Nice find for sure! I also own a M813. Unfortunatly even after having it for two years almost I am still short a working winch and lockers.
Best wishes on your rig. Here is a link to my build thread if your interested...
Hello All my Brothers! I will start off by saying that after spending some significant time now reading through SS threads, I am impressed how helpful and genuinely concerned our mentors here are. Every time I have been needing to understand something better I have found it here. So Thanks to...
After watching these guys do dives and climbs and all kinds of maneuvers out in the open desert, it gave me some confidence that they could actually be quite dangerous to anything they didn't want to be nice to. Was cool to behold.
Here is my first video on Youtube: Simple drive in the middle of no where. The previous night was just mud everything. Amazing how the desert just sucks up the water.

Good to know! I am considering flipping mine and mounting my winch about 8" higher up on the frame to keep the lateral guide rollers up out of harms way. I will pay a bit more attention now that I know this is the case. Thanks for the knowledge that only comes from those... "Oh... that's not...
I have all three of the generators working good now. Had to replace all the fuel lines on all of them and Vuala! Making noise and a bit of electricity!
Took one of the little guys with me out on our Utah MV outing over Feb 1-3. Was great! Should have taken a bunch of pics and vids of wheeling...
Even with my rig working very well, I am always leery of the breaks. I am always looking for a way off the road etc.. just to make sure if there was a problem that I wouldn't hurt anyone. Dual circuit is a very important mod for these trucks. I am still interested as well.
