LED tail lights on the cheap

My control box is home made and is mostly a junction box where I use the various sources, running, stop turn backup feeds in. I don't have it all worked out, but I will have 8 rear lights, each having high and low in a dedicated electric line (3wires) to each. One set is work lights. Watch the...

LED tail lights on the cheap

Im using a really cheap housing and replacing the 1056 incandescent with LED from SuperbrightLED. Each light is then a high and low. Note if you replace the military light, the view position is from the top, not the sides. Mine view from the sides. While I bought steel, there are stainless...

    Recharging Exide 6tmf

I thought my dump had hawkers but I found I had Exide. This is the only one of 15 5 tons that started under its own power when I bought it and with some convincing (charging) has lasted a couple years without major attention. I sure was glad to find Exide, it seems my small charger works with...

    2" receiver hitch on M37

Your problem thmpr will be twisting the rear frame member. You need diagonal bracing from the bottom of the receiver to each side frame (45* angle or so). Clean looking otherwise. Nice job.

    Interior lights

If you do the 24v LED, don't forget a dimmer. I have red, green and white but nothing mounted yet.

    11x20 tires on Deuce?

Your price on 395s isn't stated, but once you get 7 plus adaptors and wheels, that is not a cheap change. Don't forget to have the hubs flipped on the rear for dish out mounting of the single. My preference is dual 11.00 on rear and A3 rim w/14.5r20 for steer.

    16 bay TV antenna

46975. Straight east is a couple near Fort Wayne, north is some near Elkhart and south bend that I get from inside my attic already. Chicago is distant but I'm hoping their height and power will give something. SW is Lafayette, which I don't care about but pick up off the side of the attic...

    16 bay TV antenna

I found these AL terminal blocks in lot of 24. They have silver plating that helps reduce corrosion, especially with copper to aluminum. I epoxied them in the middle to connect 4 bays with the same length wire. Wire so far is 3/32" weld rod. Since going to copper to connect 4, 4 bay units...

    Original bed for dump conversion

I'm not saying they are weak, but that the springs and dog bone suspension is not as robust to take an overloaded condition like when new. Be prepared for a fail by having some suspension spare parts, if you can. Putting a dump bed on it will bring even more stress transmitted to the frame, so...

    Not your regular Bobbed 6x6

Transfer case in the 939 series can break under load when in low range and reversing. There is a plaquard that makes the warning on the 939 dash. By conversation above, you will have the T138. With the much larger diameter tires, the torque on each axle is increased significantly also, so...

    Not your regular Bobbed 6x6

This truck, with Detroit lockers in the rear and air locks in the front axle will be the best you can get in 5 ton. I'm not sure if the TC (1138) of the 818 can handle backing in low, but with 16.00 it will matter.

    M373 Axle Swap

Do you want round or square? I have a few semi axles and budds. If by chance you just want a one piece rim, the budd Isuzu fits (6 x 8.75 Bc) and you can get 19.5 or 22.5". Here is picture of the 19.5 on an m105 axle. Height is 31".

    Original bed for dump conversion

True, there is a lot less reinforcements in a deuce bed, but it is not "worthless" to reinforce. I would use additional bed frame rails myself to add some strength and gain a few inches for a scissor. And if your deuce is typical, it will have welded sides that give it much strength too. For...

    Allison 1545 Automatic Transmission Specs

I have to return this fold out schematic of the 1545. I have it in PDF emailed to me but don't know how attach it with my I pad. Here is an overall shot and one of each end of the schematic.

    Allison 1545 Automatic Transmission Specs

It would be nice to have the details of the 1545 lock up torque converter control. Does anyone know how the hydraulic pressure is controlled inside of the valve body? I think most Allisons now use electronics, but the 1545 is hydraulic..... Hey Rusty???

    Allison 1545 Automatic Transmission Specs

No, go back in this thread and it gives the shift sequence. Going from 2 to 3 the converter is unlocked. Then the converter locks while in 3 and is locked when going from 3 to 4. That puts a lot of strain on the 4th clutch pack that could be avoided. The parts I reference are high...

    Allison 1545 Automatic Transmission Specs

The A3 is a redesign of the A2 and A1, but eliminate shifting. By the wisdom of the day, they took a good performing commercial Allison 545 and added the feature of the locking TC, calling it the 1545. Probably the reason there is a different thunk between 3rd and 3-4, is that the 2-3 shift...

    16 bay TV antenna

The 10-32 screws holding the V are epoxied to the fiberglass and the aluminum V is held well, directly against it, with washers. I'm not sure the 3/32" rod should be 1/8", but will try. The first bird standing on it..... I'll make sure one works before building the next. All pars for it are...

    16 bay TV antenna

I salvaged the pipe tower about 12 years ago with my boomtruck when a friend needed it removed. It's been modified with a hinge and gives me about 40' on this very directional antenna. Yes, I have ran my location through the station locators, have Fort Wayne due east at 65 mi and Chicago at...
