No biscuits or grinding needed if you have the tow bar you pictured in post #11 , then you do not have to do anything as long as you have the 3/4' feet shown...
I thought the "HMMWV" tow bar was the later IBIS Tek Black tow bar, the tan was the first but they started to fail when the up armored and much heaver HMMWV came out. Here is an old thread on this also.

It is not a m135 cover but bonus it is a late war (M135's weren't made till the 50's) The ORD# 24-C-3425 means it is a WWII CCKW cargo cover and should be worth a couple hundred.
