Hello everyone near US Rt. 20, we are forming up the line now and getting things in order for the trip. We have a place to sleep near Crazy Horse, and a place to stay in Nebraska. We are hoping for pull offs to camp each night, figuring about 250 to 300 miles per day. Our first night will be...
I could use a couple of good straight ones if anyone has them for sale. I did a heavy pulling job during the last 3 weeks and I've folded both of mine up pretty good. I can rebuild them and add some more reinforcements but I still could use 2 more. John T
If you think the M52 worked hard pullin the M127 uphill empty, you oughta try pulling an M127 with the side racks on with an M275A2!!!!!!!! The 1st time I did it I thought the trailer brakes were dragging. I guess a deuce tractor wasn't supposed to pull much weight. John T
My 2 1/2 ton M35A1 dump truck rear springs look like that. I carry between 8 and 10 tons on her every load, nothing has broken yet. I have to fix torque rods from time to time. When any leaves crack, I'll replace the whole set with some new ones. They are a lot tougher than they look. JT out
Jeli has a good point, and a GREAT avatar BTW, We just completed a 2 week winch job with the M543A2 and a line truck with bed winch. We used the line truck to pull the 3/4" cable off the wrecker. When I put my next tractor together it will have a drag winch high on the rear. Such a setup. JT out
RE: I can smell it already
I'll be there with my M109A3 shop van from Upstate New York. John Kolanchek will be with me in his WC-21 1941 Dodge. AcetomatoeCo will be with us too with a surprize vehicle. We will be running US Rt. 20 out to the convention and US Rt. 30 homeward bound. Maybe we'll...
My old tire man told me I would get in trouble with NYDOT if I used never seize on my wheel studs and nuts. I said OK. I use military issue black anti seize compound on every threaded thing I ever plan on taking apart again and I always will. Two other heavy duty truck shops in my area tell me...
Pretty much the plugged pee hole on the 5 ton glad hand cover is not relevant to M35 2/12 ton trucks. You either have a sticking air pack release valve or you have a restriction in your master cylinder that isn't allowing brake fluid to return quickly enough. There is also a very slight chance...
As posted earlier in this thread by David Doyle, It is the decision by DRMS (The government) to make GL make these "requests" to us. I am not supporting GL here at all,be sure of that, but it is our government making these Demill code changes and we should remember, as misguided as they may be...
I don't need 13 speeds either but I don't think there are any double overdrive 10 speeds. I do want a double overdrive or it isn't worth the effort of converting from the stock 5 speed. The way I read the data plate and operators manual the 800 series is only good for 53 MPH in high gear. Not...
Another simple fix is to use an axle known as a blind shaft and one lockout hub on one side of the front rear end. That effectively gives you a power divider. When you need all wheel drive, you get out and lock 2 front hubs and one rear hub and you are golden. JT
RE: Re: RE: Govt liquidation & hillary?
Regardless of who is to blame, this is a serious matter that should be delt with at a congressional level. We elect people(Human beings like us) to represent us(Human Beings) in congress. The stuff we buy is not going to change the world by any stretch of...
On one side or the other, you can't get to the middle(level) plug. Why not just drain both annually and refill to correct no. of pints? Then you have cleared your winch of moisture and any filings. If you seriously use your winch at work as I do, You will find some wear occurring and you can...
