Here is the thread with the most complete information about Texas Former Military Vehicle (FMV) law and requirements that I have found. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?67255-Texas-FMV-Laws-(Former-Military-Vehicles) It is the result of a ton of work by our Chaplain, John on this...
NICE!!! I do that too. I have an additional advantage. When I registered my deuce, I put down 'General Products Division of Jeep Corporation" as the make on the application. Now, my title, registration, and insurance all just say "Jeep". So when someone says they got a bad a** Jeep, I tell them...
I was referring to the gear ratios using true tracks driven by a sprocket. if the drive sprocket is 1/4 the diameter of the front tires, you would need the rear axle to have 1/4 of the front axle reduction.
I think it wold not be all that easy. Matching gear ratios to the front axle would be just one of the challenges. Putting tracks on the rear tires similar to the tracks for skid steer loaders would be relatively easy, and you could go back and forth.

Focus your efforts on earning the title of Marine first. Then do a rethink and if you are still up for it, focus your effort on the deuce. When you are young, time is on your side, patience is generally not. I second the opinion of a CUCV but would limit it to a M1009 if a DD. With a...
It might be the disk they are taking about, if yours is the type without a separate relay. (the disk within the beer can sized thing) May just need to clean or turn it. The solenoid plunger first moves the bendix into engagement with the flywheel and then pushes on the disk closing the circuit...
You can buy solder wick instead of a solder sucker. it is a small roll of braided, fine copper wire. You touch some to the solder joint and heat with an iron. The solder will wick onto the braid. Cut off the used portion of braid and repeat with fresh wick until all of the solder you want...
Let's see if I can get the link thingy to work like I wish. Pictures, hopefully:http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?110199-Super-Single-spare-tire-swing-gate-mount!&p=1391039#post1391039
I changed the cable to new, but same size. The front keyhole slot on the carrier was elongated about an inch out. I use the circular part of the rear keyhole for the tire carrier but use a large flat washer under the nut. This allows the tire to sit farther outboard to clear the parking brake...
You don't need a bed crane if you put the spare in the original spot. It is doable with 395s. The last flat I had was while offroading with a BUNCH of friends. Before I knew it, thay had tossed the flat up on the bed. They were none too happy when I said I wanted it back down so I could put it...
I run 35-40 in the front and 20-25 in the rears. I do have widened deuce wheels in the front though. No balance, no antifreeze, no squirrely, only a little bouncy between 40 and 45 mph.
I replaced my smoked original with a 10si 24V plus I added a 12V mounted above the 24V. Fording not recommended but most on this site that do not recommend fording are not talking about the alternator anyway.
