I agree! I would take extra fluids, belts, heater hose, oil and fuel filters, tools, RTV and maybe some fuel line hose.
Installing a temperature gauge and oil pressure gauge would hurt. I like being able to monitor the engine for temp and oil pressure.

Stationjj is 110% correct. Be ready to do electrical work and replace rubber. The first rule of CUCV is if it's rubber replace it and if it's electrical clean it. Your going to want to replace all the fuses and bulbs and clean the fuse box with electrical cleaner to prevent...
I saw them in the catalog. Thanks for the link though. How did they work out for you? Did they fit good? It seems that the most common complaint with aftermarket weather stripping is that they don't fit well.
I recommend changing you truck back to the original 24V system. My M1009 was converted to 12V by the previous owner and I wish it was stock. It would have eliminated a lot of headaches when I got it.
The advantages of being stock are great. The ability to use the TM's when diagnosing and...
From my personal experience Safelite is the most expensive in the business. I go through a local company who's regular prices are around 15-25% less than Safelite. I put a windshield in my old Jeep, my fiance's Neon and door glass in another car and every time they were less than Safelite.
I missed the part about him having a Suburban. Maybe I should read more carefully. If I already had that I would get a M1008. Then you have the best of both worlds, a pick-up and a Suburban. Then you have the ability to move/haul just about anything.
I spoke with my friend at the body shop and that's exactly what he said I should try before spending money on new seals. Sounds like it should work. I'm fine with it, it's gonna be easier on my wallet.;-)
Capitalizing every word of every sentence makes your posts really hard to read.
In my opinion the M1009 is the most versatile CUCV if you can only own one CUCV. You still have the storage room in the bed when you roll the seat forward and whatever your hauling is going t stay dry vs. in the bed...
I started to think the same thing. I have always wanted an MB.
You guys want to own a half-track and so do I but, at this point in my life I would be happy just getting a ride in one!
I have heard good and bad about the LMC seals. Some people said they fit great and the quality was good. Some said they didn't fit well.
Did you do it yourself or did a shop do it? I live across the street from a body shop with an owner who does a ton of side work on the weekends. He said he...
I hate to bring back an old thread but I'm trying to get some feedback on this subject. I'm getting ready to replace the seals on the hardtop of my M1009 as they are leaking pretty bad. I've tried to find GM seals and they are discontinued. No luck on a certain auction site either.
So from your...
This is what was causing squealing on my M1009. It didn't have the spacer so I had to make one out of washers until I can find one or make a better one.
The GM part number for the spacer is 14067725 and is discontinued.
I found the part number in the TM's. Then Google searched it and cross...
I hope everything works out in your favor. I think it's kinda silly that 3 years later you get a phone call about it. I would think they would have bigger fish to fry 2cents.
Hopefully it all works out.
I definatly agree with having a second vehicle. I always have my fiance's car to get around in if it really hits the fan. I live in the city and taking the bus or riding my bike is no problem for me if the truck is down.
