Fortunately I won the tires pretty cheap at GL, probably have a total of $200 into each wheel with shipping & GL fees...... of course the trailer didnt cost much more than the wheels. I guess its like the teenager who has a $1000 car with a $3000 stereo:)
Well I figured I'd start what I expect to be a mini build thread for my trailer. I purchased 2 lots of MRAP wheels out of redstone this summer (8 wheels total). My plan is 6 for the M109 and 2 for the trailer. I figure it will make everything match, but I also want the trailer to have them...
I just bought some from mcmaster.com
They were Mcmaster part numbers 1226A46 and 1226A64 for $15 each. They are nice L-Handle latches that are keyed the same and one is right hand, one is left hand. you can install them so the handle points down, or point forward (how I did mine). The ones I...
Also it helped to sand/clean the area around the snap ring groove so there wasnt any paint build up or ridges for the cap to get stuck on coming off. If you find you need a new piston cup, let me know as I have an extra one I'd sell if you need it.
I rebuilt mine this year and it also had a stuck cap. On mine it didnt screw on however. I had to take the snap ring off. I assumed I could just pull on the rod and it would then pop the cover off but that didnt work. An hour or so later after abusing it more than I should have I was able to get...
I've never seen it either. I will say that the first guy I had set up with UShip to bring them back was a no show. But the second shipper everything went super well, they even delivered to my home and we just tipped the MRAP wheels off the trailer so i didnt have to have them delivered to my...
throw up a free add on uship.com too if you havent already.... just gives you more options. That ended up being how I got my 8 MRAP wheels from AL to Minnesota.
Easy is always appreciated when working on the deuce. Jesusgatos- I've followed your build and remember all the work you put into making your wheels. They turned out great, but it sure didnt look easy.... Same goes for you Treeguy, that is some real labor you guys put in and the results show it.
Bones1, I think you probably saw this thread the other day but it has a couple pic links that show a few different trucks with MRAPS (including Angus' bobber).

I dont have any pics of my truck yet with these mounted.... I ended up selling the ones I had made for myself so I'll be making another run of these for me and anyone else who wants in on the next batch.
Here are a couple links to others who have done this with MRAPs...
MRAP WHEELS & 395/85R20, NO Modifications, Bolt on adapter to fit the Deuce!
Like many other folks, I was looking to put some nice wheels on my truck but didnt have the money for the recentered HEMMTs and some of the other options out there. I ended up winning a couple lots of MRAP wheels out...
PM sent on the valve stem. Also I've got MRAP adapters listed in the classifieds that will fit the deuce, all machined. I made a bunch so was able to get them done reasonably due to quantities. It might end up being cheaper than buying the metal and doing it yourself.
You can always talk to Scott (tie6044), he is up here in the Minneapolis area and always has lots of trucks and parts. He has several 5tons i believe still. I've heard Andy (andydieselpower) also has many of 5tons last I heard. Both are a couple hour drive from you but might be worth checking with.
Metalman99- Since you dont have your MRAPS yet you probably arent aware that the thickness of the rim is about .76" so I'm not sure if you would actually want to make make your adapter flush on the outside of the wheel... that would be some pretty thick material to start with. I make MRAP to...
