Looks like your drop side truck will be getting a pretty winch!! What else you looking to snag offa the GSA truck? Wadda ya gonna do with the "residue" when you are done?
Rick
Your state allowed you to use the reman date without any verification. That's interesting. Just out of curiosity, what was the contract year displayed on the data plate?
Rick
My understanding is that the M35A3's were "manufactured" from 1994 to 1999 (according to Olive Drab).
If that is the case, do your M35A3 trucks have the newer manufacture dates from the 90's, or did they keep the chassis build date?
Thanks to all,
Rick
82,
If you get a new plastic wiper motor that doesn't run right out of the box, I found that giving the motor a pulse of compressed air, right in the entry nipple freed up mine. Mine didn't work, and after taking it apart and finding nothing, I put 90psi into it in a blast and she started...
I have considered bidding from trucks from both Hawaii and Puerto Rico, due to the reasoning that whatever I get will have to be shipped to my location anyway. My experience is the Hawaii trucks get about $300-$500 less in price.
BKubu mentions the exact things that stop me: a non-running truck...
panzerwillie,
Thanks for the interesting post. I am surprised at the 100* drop in temps you were able to extract at highway loads!
I saw the temp sensor on the compressor output, but I did not see where you placed the manifold inlet sensor. Can you point it out for me in your photos?
Rick
Hello and congratulations!
My considered reply is that you should have paid what you thought it was worth to you. Did you do that or are you seeking confirmation/solace/comparisons?
Rick
Welcome Armadillo! This summer I met some friendly SS members in your town, so I know you will have some great resources available to you nearby. When you get the time, why not post some more photos of your truck and tell us your plans for it.
Rick
I just posted a photo of a military COE here: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce-modification-hot-rodding/43620-dual-front-axles-deuce-3.html#post490835 Look for Post #23.
Also, your idea on keeping the cab is good. You can copy motorhome design: Install a hard top, then cut in a walk through...
What about all the cheap forward cabs (COE's) from Japan? Shoot, I see '90's Isuzu's, Mitsubishi's, and Nissan trucks on Craigslist from time to time in the $2500 range. The trucks may have blown motors or bad trannys, but who cares!
So there you go. And if anyone says COE is unsafe, be sure...
11echo,
It appears the fronts are not offset dual wheels. It that standard for the dump or did you do it yourself? Do you find it useful to widen the track?
Rick
Wow, great composition. I think you did an outstanding job with the camera shots and editing.
Just guessing, but I think you practice this stuff, don't you?
