    MEP-803A Low EGT on 1

Pull the top, the muffler, and the air cleaner. Run the engine and crack open the high pressure lines, one at a time, and look for fuel being pumped on every cylinder. I'm guessing you have an IP that is not pumping. Are all of your IPs turned fully CCW until the feed hose contacts the...

MEP 831A 4x 3 Phase AC DC Rectifier Sample Circuit for the Genset connoisseur

Midnite Solar sells a MPPT charge controller, that works with wind or hydro generation, with 200 Vdc input and is programmable to work with 12-72V battery banks of various chemistry. The 831A's 24V battery could be rewired to be charged from the controller amd be used as a buffer supply for an...

MEP 831A 4x 3 Phase AC DC Rectifier Sample Circuit for the Genset connoisseur

Those are all good thoughts. I had considered feeding the DC bus of a VFD, but it seemed kinda hacky. The grid-tied inverter is an appealing option, but I need to dig into these more. Do they make models that don't need a grid reference to operate? Idealing, finding one that could run...

    MEP-802A GP Win

Instead of letting the gen float unconstrained, consider using rubber isolators like these sandwiched on either side of that mounting hole. https://www.mcmaster.com/product/9305K131

    MEP-802A GP Win

2x on all the things said above. Mine sitting directly on the dirt tends to dampen the vibration. If the concrete pad is not substantial enough, it could have the opposite effect and act like an impedence matching transformer, transfering more of the vibration energy to the ground.

    The river has gone dry

Would not doubt it. I'm hanging onto my TQGs for Red Dawn II

    The river has gone dry

I know the yard guys (govplanet) have been talking about this computer upgrade the DoD has gone through recently, backlogging the flow of surplus. Our local yard is empty, but they keep saying the floodgates are going to open and they anticipate getting 10 truckload/day of equipment. This was...

    Stuck Injector? Mep 803a

Looks and sounds like it is missing, then puff of smoke and its running fine. Could be a couple of things. Bleed down of one of the high pressure lines when off could cause one cylinder to not fire until the air purges. However several minutes is a long time to purge the air. Other...

How do you move your generator(s)?

I was curious how he set it up. The 425 only has 10 more lbs of stated 3pt capacity, but I know people push the 318s much harder than the official numbers. Deere states max real axle load on mine is 1200 lbs, but the Peerless axles itself os rated for 1800 lbs.

How do you move your generator(s)?

I would like to see that 425 in action. I built forks for my 318's 3pt, but lift capacity is only 640 lbs.

How do you move your generator(s)?

I need to up my game. Been looking for a compact tractor, but maybe I need to aim higher.

How do you move your generator(s)?

I don't own much in the way of material handling equipment and have typically relied on my tilt-deck trailer and a small dolly with floor jacks to move stuff around. Recently I built a pair of towable dollys to improve my ability to shuffle generators. It got me curious how all of you move a...

Required spare parts to keep on hand for MEP 802/803

Thought of another one... Generator end bearing. These are 2 for $20 for quality Timken bearings. Good to have an extra on hand.

Required spare parts to keep on hand for MEP 802/803

Air filter, water separator, fuel filter, oil filter, belt, and an oil change's worth of oil, coolant. If you have serious outage, you may be running long enough to need filter changes. Fuel hose(s), spare fuel pump. (Did you upgrade your well nut yet?) All fuses, wire butt splices (I'm...

Yanmar L48AE Injector seal MEP 531/831

Hard to tell for sure, but that looks like a seal to me. (Part 18 )

    MEP-831A no power

    wow.

    Mep 802a start up

I recall hearing this, but I don't remember the reason. What happens when you idle down?

    Mep 802a start up

61 hz is fine. Unloaded, mine is around 61.5hz. There is an easy way to adjust droop on the engine if your set is sagging (hz) too much under load.

    Mep 802a start up

Still working on it, but Seafoam has done wonders cleaning up the crankcases of some other machines I have. I'd like to do a long 8 hr pull at 80% load to work it in.

    Mep 802a start up

What year is your unit and how many hrs? I have a low hour (218) 1994 model that behaves similar, in that it smokes some when a load is added, but burns clean after a few minutes of load. This isnt typical of my other units and it has led me to believe that the rings are a little stuck, so I...
