Not quite a generator, but my 803 is part of it soon...

The latest version of the Chargeverter can communicate with the batteries. I don't use battery comm in my system (open loop). The current from the chargeverter passes through the system's main shunt so it keeps track of the battery bank SOC.

Not quite a generator, but my 803 is part of it soon...

You may want to use one of these instead of using the charger in your Growatt. https://signaturesolar.com/eg4-chargeverter-gc-48v-100a-battery-charger-5120w-output-240-120v-input/ The Growatt has to carry the variable load of the house while at the same time charging the batteries. You won't...

    Oh yes!

I occasionally crew my brother's 68' trawler style boat when he's moving it. Always get stuck with the night watch. But to the point, one of the things I look forward too is being lulled to sleep by the steady sound of the diesel main engine turning at 1600-1700 rpm. A symphony of mechanical...

    Input requested - MEP-802A/803A Radiators

Thanks Guyfang. They are both 802a's. I checked the LO, the -10, the -24 for the set, and the -24 for the engine and couldn't find any info on coolant flushing/replacement intervals. I did find specs on the type of coolant to use though. When the weather warms up a bit I'll flush them out...

    Input requested - MEP-802A/803A Radiators

On the subject of radiator/cooling system maintenance , how often do you guys think would be wise to flush the cooling system and add new coolant in an 80x? I do know that the additives in coolant lose their effectiveness over time etc but I'm not sure if its related to use or if it just times...

    Input requested - MEP-802A/803A Radiators

Just picked up 2 of these. They are indeed new old stock with the original packaging and the original inlet/outlet plugs from the factory. I hope I never need them but I am glad to have them in the parts stash. I have 2 802s one with ~600 or so hours and the other has never seen the field...

    Wet Stacking

I think it should be a sticky on its own. The topic comes up a lot, either stand alone or as part of a different topic. The information is direct from the DoD and tells you all you need to know.

What did I find in the bottom of my MEP?

Dang, you must have been bored. Not so much because you did it but because you remember it.

    mep-803a coolant temperature sender

There's also this one that appearance wise matches what I bought a couple years ago under the part number (101586) listed above. Has a different part number now....not sure if something changed or if the vendors website is inaccurate...

Feasibility of Solar Panel augmentation with existing MEP backup/additive power or just add larger genset?

I do have a wood stove and we use it to augment the FHW oil fired heating system. We don't use wood exclusively but I keep a few cord on hand. Hot water is currently provided by the oil fired heating system. I am currently looking into heat pump water heaters and may switch over. Total cost is...

Feasibility of Solar Panel augmentation with existing MEP backup/additive power or just add larger genset?

All good sources of info Kurt. I would also point people to this site. Go to Playlists and look for Solar Power: Start to finish. https://www.youtube.com/@HomesteadEngineering My system is very similar to what this person has done, including using the Reliance Controls transfer switches so...
