Convention is Black for L1, Red for L2 and Orange or Blue for Phase 3....hard to believe the ECU would not have a phase monitor to stop running backwards but let's hope Guy is right and it is a simple fix...
Hello back from Roanoke..
I would (respectfully) say you may be over thinking it....it is a function of the minimum exhaust temperature that the engine is designed for. Below that point the engine starts to wetstack....whatever load gets you to the temperature at the desired running speed is...
I would say that smaller engines are less likely to wet stack as they tend to spin at higher rpm and run hotter....60Hz, two pole (usually smaller) gen generally spins at 3600 rpm....whereas 4 pole (usually larger) generally spins at 1800rpm...
Revving an engine quicker increases the temperature...
The temp sensor has a resistance of around 4.8k at room temp...so I guess it is a 5k negative temperature coefficient thermistor (value drops when I put my finger on it for heat)...you could probably fool the system into running with a 5k or 4.7k ohm resistor on the brown wires for...
Obviously, caveat emptor in any auction but I wanted to see if I could come up with a couple things to watch out for when choosing to bid on an HDT or PowerSystems trailer mounted generator/ECU combo...this is all unofficial...just one generator addict trying to help others..
A complete...
That looks like a Deutsch DTM Series connector...if that helps...

I can help you with this...I will respond to the PM...
FYI...05NF7 is not the part number. That is the cage code for the company that made it.
'The Commercial and Government Entity Code, or CAGE Code, is a unique identifier assigned to suppliers to various government or defense agencies, as...
HDT/PowerSystems generator trailers have a fuel tank slung under the length of the trailer. The tank is shaped almost like a slice of pie so that as you fill and drain it, the center of gravity for the trailer remains the same. If you add a tank to a single axle trailer try to balance it or the...
I will get hold of them on Monday. Worst EEI can do is say 'no' right? Not sure how much we can hold them to it after all this time, they may not have even kept records..but we will ask.
Typically, that governor ends up set around the 11:30 to 12:00 mark for gain and stability on our John...
You are right. They list it in the contents but nothing in their manual. As far as PSI would have been concerned, they would have purchased the ECU as a finished unit and then simply connected the 3 phases, neutral and ground and fired it up.
If you have wires off inside the EEI that may prove...
EEI manual for the ECU was on the link I sent...
Back in those days (pre-me...pre 2002) PSI used EEI and Applied ECUs...eventually they made their own from scratch by 'Virginia artisan craftsmen':)
Let me dig into the EEI manual in the AM...see how it is connected
That governor controller has gain and stability controls. We typically use that one with the 35kW unit but it should (in theory) work in a similar fashion on your Lister..
Turn the stability up (clockwise) until the engine starts to 'hunt or bounce'. dial it back until it gets stability then go...
OK..quick bit of history on these systems..
Back in the day...PowerSystems INtl used to make the trailer for DHS (DRASH tents). They parted ways, DRASH made their own trailer and PowerSystems Intl joined up with another tent company (Base-X). It continued that way, DRASH made their own tent and...
