By chance I used Sunburst Yellow yesterday to repaint the bridge plate for a friend's M37. It's what he already had on his shelf, and he wanted to use it, so....
My opinion for what it is worth is that it is a tad light in tone, but looks pretty good.
Cheers
I wasn't clear, I should have said that rib was a recognition feature of Phantom tanks made by Sargent-Fletcher. It would indeed make sense that they'd base the new pod on an already certified (and well tried!) supersonic wing tank.
Thanks for the info on the Russian "tank", looking forward to...
Fascinating piece of gear!
The main body looks like it could have been made from an F-4 370 gallon wing tank, that rib on the side being a recognition feature of those brand tanks when on a Phantom.
You have also tantalized us with mention of the other tank, the "fake Russian" one. Care to...
Either would work, though the old ones are not difficult to remove. If the holes are sloppy, you can always go to the next size up rivnut.
As mentioned above, one of the important steps for future happiness with rivnuts is never-seize goop on the new bolts. ;)
Cheers
As mentioned above, one name for them is rivnuts. Another is nutserts. Pretty easy to work with.
If yours are the front ones on the M1009, you can actually get at the back of them with a long set of channel-lock pliers by reaching up inside the body work from the wheel well. That's how I got...
There was an M939 cargo truck similar to yours in Houston when I got my M813 back c.2005. I was interested in buying it, but they were not interested in selling.
I don't remember the details, I took some pictures of it, but can't find them right now, they may be in my old computer that...
I'm being slow with the updates!
The interior light that originally came with the truck was a cheapy chromed plastic affair, dangling by it's power wire from the roof. Totally unsatisfactory!
So I painted an armour interior light green and bolted it to the roof framework. Much better.
I had...
They are who I got the recentered Humvee wheels from for my "M715A2".
The good - great product, very happy with it. Very nice people.
The bad - communication. Very nice people, but hard to get a hold of. I'd talk to the office lady, who would tell someone to call me back, and then wait...
Most of the differences were well covered above.
My M813 on 14.00s has a top speed near 70, however personally I do not feel comfortable driving it that fast, even though it is nice and stable. The truck itself seems to like 57 as a cruising speed, and I have no reason to push it.
My two...
Tim, believe it or not, I have them on both sides! :D
They were a little wonky to start with, but some careful work on them with a body hammer and a piece of wood as a forming anvil and they came out pretty straight. I imagine they'd be easy to replicate, using these ones as patterns.
Cheers
While the M715 project is pretty much finished, it appears I have been remiss in posting my updates!
The first picture attached was actually supposed to go on the last post, oops! And I referred to things like chain covers without putting in pictures.
On November 10th, the Marine Corps...
