    interesting SH405 armored 404/S Unimog

The Irish Army operated those, I used to see them as a kid in Ireland in the 1970s. They crewed them somewhat differently than the photo above! Cheers

    M37 Restoration Project - Revived

That is spiffy! Now I know what I am going to put on the empty bracket for the blackout light on the M715 I'm rebuilding. “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery”. ;) I was just wondering if I should leave the bracket empty, which doesn't look aesthetically pleasing, or put something...

    Flags on LMTV procedure

To each his own on multiples - I personally think that several flags are appropriate on July 4th Independence Day. I don't care if someone thinks it looks like a carnival float so long as its a patriotic one. Cheers

    "ZOUT"

I'm sorry you lost your friend, Papabear. He was a good fellow. Rest well, Zout.

    Looking for V100 chassis pics

That's beautiful! Those little brass gun mounts are quite amazing! If you examine the photos, you'll see the pattern differs from vehicle to vehicle, so no worries if your pattern isn't an exact match. I don't know if there was actually an "official" pattern. Cheers

Steel Soldiers MV of the month 2024 - October VOTE HERE!

The choice this month was tough! I finally narrowed it down to 2, and tossed a coin...... Cheers

    Flags on LMTV procedure

As stated above, a/the US flag should be on the right front corner. That said, in a parade, for safety, I don't want a large flag way out front blocking my view, so I put a smallish US flag on the front right, and the big flag is on a wooden dowel (bought at the hardware store) and attached to...

    My M715 'rework' project

Tim, your M715 is definitely NOT an ugly duckling! It will be nice to see two of them together. Maybe if Temple can get their act together, that can be our big gathering again. I hope so. Fortunately, the major painting on mine is pretty much done. I'm doing things like tailgate chains and...

    My M715 'rework' project

So, onwards with the paint. During the break in actually working on the truck, I drew out the camouflage pattern for it. I used the manual diagrams for the M1008 for the basic pattern, adjusted in size and shape a bit to suit the M715 body. I referred to the M1010 pattern to extrapolate onto...

    My M715 'rework' project

Thanks! Yes, she did a pretty spectacular "Dukes of Hazard leap" over that culvert, lots of dust and flying debris. The car looked way worse in person than in the picture, the whole front end was trashed and all the fluids were either out or still leaking. Better to learn that way than a...

    My M715 'rework' project

On with two coats of 383 green. The side panels/troop seats also got painted and put in place. I had found the mirror mounts difficult to paint around when priming, so undid the top strap to fold them out a bit. This showed that the lower parts were held on by sheet metal screws, and not very...

    My M715 'rework' project

During the course of moving the truck about, I had discovered that the new master cylinder, put in during the previous brake work, had failed already. It was still under warranty, so the replacement was free, but it was still annoying to have to replace it so soon. I also found that the...

    Looking for V100 chassis pics

That is looking very good, Pawel! I think we talked about this before - the kit has a seam running along the curve of the nose side plate, this should be completely smooth. There is a small weld line at the rear of that plate, which it looks like you have added to your model. These are...

    My M715 'rework' project

So, having poked one rust bubble, I decided to poke and scratch at a few more little ones, and they too revealed nastiness beneath. Nothing near the scale of the bed, but definitely needing attention. There were only a few, mostly below and behind the doors, and one ahead of the passenger...

    My M715 'rework' project

Again, for a variety of reasons, this project stalled for a while, but we've been back at it for a few weeks. Remember the VFD Mad Driller? Well, his rapacious handiwork in the bed had to be addressed with the welder, particularly the holes in the wheel wells which would allow loads of dirty...

    M37 Restoration Project - Revived

A most impressive setup! Your wiring pleases my somewhat compulsive desire for things to line up neatly. Cheers

    Looking for V100 chassis pics

Those look very good. I'm sure you have noticed that the doors have the exterior colour painted on the inside. The openings have a thin black rubber seal around the edges to help with water-tightness. Cheers

Why is my M1008 floor getting so hot?

The Lizard Skin mentioned above, along with rubber floor mats, helped a lot with cab heat in my M1028A2. Cheers
