They didn't put jerry cans on the back as a general rule, but there may have been exceptions. I've not seen photos of any.
That said, it is your vehicle, do what makes you happy and don't worry about anyone else. If the holes are already there.... ;)
Original seats are apparently very...
Here is the back of mine.
I am about to swap out the small tail-lights lenses for the larger Gama Goat style ones, not completely original but much safer on the road.
Cheers
That's it!
The markings on the sides of the hood/bonnet and tailgate are 3" tall.
If you are going to put a spare tyre on the back, the markings move down to the bumper/fender, and are done in 2" letters and numerals.
I'll be working on mine again today (just got the engine power egg...
Agreed on the shocking prices.
Back when I paid $325 for an M1102, I thought I was being foolish, but I really wanted one. I was used to paying $125 for M105s and $175 for M101A2s.
I look at the prices that are being asked now and shake my head in wonder. There's no way I'd have all the...
Apparently at least some were used in Europe in 383 camo, though I've only seen a few photos of pickups.
The attached are a couple from an auction in Europe in 2006, and one of a truck belonging to a private owner in Germany who at the time said it was in "as bought" paint, according to my...
Mites, unfortunately, do not have the USMC 6-digit serial number stamped on the data plate, only the 4-digit manufacturers number.
Most M422A1s hood numbers were 30xxxx, the last four do not correspond to the manufacturers serial number.
If you want the original number, careful sanding down...
The vinyl stick-on letters were exceptions to the rule, and I only saw them on some Humvees in the motor pools. The issue the Marines had with those is that they peeled off rather readily. Several of the Humvees in son's motor pool had vestigal shadows from where the stickers used to be, the...
Another close race for the pennant! [thumbzup]
Congratulations to Mark and a well done to Serpico.
It sure isn't easy picking just one out of these vehicles, there were several I'd have liked to have voted for, but in the end I had to stick with my buddy Mkcoen.
It does seem a shame to only...
My great aunt in Ireland had one just like that, though the lower colour was a grey rather than blue. It was a lovely car, had a wooden dash and steering wheel, and very comfy soft leather seats.
When I was 12 I bought an old Austin Champ for £20 (pounds). I used all my Christmas money and...
I have several Clansman radios and think they are a really good bit of gear. They are fully interoperable with US radios, as they were designed to be, and are (well, at least were when I bought in several years ago) a lot less expensive than comparable US radios. There is all sorts of kit...
Having looked at your "post-mudding" pictures, an idea you may consider or discard at your choice is some mud flaps.
The 715 I am currently working on came with some simple rubber flaps front and rear, which look to me like a good idea as I have always thought the M715 fenders stopped a little...
That standoff of the turn signals from the rear bulkhead is how the larger military turn signals fit in the M715, since the back of the light gets stopped by the front bulkhead hole not being large enough for them to go through.
The smaller diameter lights like you have would normally fit...
Lower price than they usually go for. Let's hope no one hits a bridge with this one!
That broken one just departed my area, but left me a few parts to stick on my other toys. The box was irreparable, so will be scavanged for usable parts and scrapped, the chassis is still good.
Cheers
John, in the Marines we preferred the term "reassignment of government assets". It meant pretty much the same thing, but sounded better. ;)
Without getting into details, let me say that it is possible to "reassign" an M35 from the Army to the Marines with a CH-53D. :)
In any unit I was...
How about hinging it, like the windshield armour on this one? Then you could just fold it down when on the road to/from events.
You could hinge the door armour level with the bottom of the stock window sills.
Maybe use some hood spring-hook thingys to hold them down while driving, look nice and...
Thank you!
Hambone, I tip my hat to you, sir. What a close run, came down to just one vote. Your vehicle is absolutely beautiful.
I am honoured to have been in such great company as the other exemplary vehicles this year. Not a slouch among them. Well done to all.
It's probably worth a lot...
