Steel Soldiers MV of the month 2023 - January VOTE HERE!

Settled by only one vote! Well done to Migginbros and to BDGR on a good race. [thumbzup][thumbzup] And to the others, try again, they are all nice. Cheers

Steel Soldiers MV of the YEAR 2022 - VOTE HERE

In March of 2013 I was asked to bring the V100 to participate in the ground breaking ceremonies of the Vietnam Memorial at the Texas Capitol in Austin. My V itself is a Vietnam veteran, documented as serving with the 720th MP. Our main function was to serve as escort for the 3417 dog tags of...

How do you secure your vehicle at shows? Armor hatches - Safety related

I have cussed the studs that hold that light, and then the light itself after it was installed, many times! And a few other pointy bits. My better half came out and asked me one day "Why are you wearing a wooly hat in there, it's 104*?!?!" I just pointed at that light. People at car shows...

How do you secure your vehicle at shows? Armor hatches - Safety related

I am a big believer in letting the kids get in the trucks, except for the V100 for the reasons stated above. When we do a touch-a-truck, I usually bring a 5-ton and the Mule, so big and small. So long as they behave, they get to sit in the drivers seat, wiggle the steering wheel, etc. For the...

How do you secure your vehicle at shows? Armor hatches - Safety related

I flat out don't let people in the V100. I have scars on my head from banging into fixtures in there while working on it, so it is not "safe", and besides that I don't want them coonfingering my stuff inside (like radios and other gear). I lock the right side and rear hatches from inside, and...

Nice! What tires are those? Cheers

What exact colors are on the tan ECV or REV USMC HMMWVs?

As stated by Retired above, all the services now use the same colours on tactical vehicles. If your Humvee is green inside, it will be 34094. USMC green 34052 (or 24052) is only used on some non-tactical vehicles now, it would not be used on a Humvee. For clarification - 383 is the camouflage...

    Bought An Expandable Shelter

That thing is cool! I wasn't sure what it was until I got the PDF opened. Here are a couple of the pictures. Cheers

    Military KLR?

The M1030 is essentially a 'militarized' KLR 250, the M1030B1 (which I have) is a KLR 650, both gasoline powered. The M1030M1 is diesel powered. The one in Hambone's picture is missing the military-specific equipment such as blackout lighting, the front tool bag, and the rear luggage rack. All...

Operation: Gertrude. Kendelrios M715 restoration thread

From the pictures in the manual, they were using two rather small batteries then too. No way two larger batteries would fit in the box with the lid sloped. Ken, sure is great seeing your truck running and stopping. I'm impressed with how quickly you are getting the project done. [thumbzup]...

Operation: Gertrude. Kendelrios M715 restoration thread

I would like to do the same. For me, it would be the right height. Email received, thanks Tim. :) Cheers

Operation: Gertrude. Kendelrios M715 restoration thread

Here are the requested dimensions of the original battery box, measured from my truck that has one of these elbow-whackers. If I can't find an original for my other truck and have to build one, I'll likely amend the dimension of the new one a bit and add an armrest pad on top. I'll probably...

    M715 bed / M101 trailer bed

No offense taken! It's pretty hard to hurt my feelings. ;) My comment was more of an observation as many folks do ask questions, then never come back. Glad you did, and glad to be of help. Cheers

    M715 bed / M101 trailer bed

Just curious, why do people ask a question, then not come back to see the answer that others spent their time putting together for them? It happens a lot! Oh well, hopefully someone else will find the information useful in the future. :) Cheers

    M1008 buzzing bed

I second the skid plate check. It took me a while to track the buzz on my M1028 down to that, because it really sounded like it was coming from somewhere else. Cheers

Operation: Gertrude. Kendelrios M715 restoration thread

I had figured the lollipop lights were a forest service/volunteer fire department thing (mine appears to be former forest service). I'll have to go back further through my photo files, so far I've found several of M715s with clearance lights on the fenders, but no military 715s with lollipops...

Operation: Gertrude. Kendelrios M715 restoration thread

Excellent! Thank you! So, not the first one to come up with the idea. I can do it and be correct. :) Makes me wonder now if that is why those lollipop lights got put where they were? Cheers

Thank you! I was going to make them today. :) Cheers

Operation: Gertrude. Kendelrios M715 restoration thread

Seeing your side marker lights made me think "Ooh! That's a pretty good idea!" And since the M715 I am currently 'decivilianizing' will not be going all the way back to original stock condition, why not? The previous owner had drilled holes and put some mickey-mouse lollipop turn...
