It surprised me how much a solid aluminum box can leak. My leaks seem to be controlled after i sealed the roof and put new gaskets and sikaflex on all marker lights; however, we live in San Angelo and the next west Texas rainy season is scheduled for 15 years from now.
And I put the first two...
I'm trying to decide where to put the solar battery bank on CARA, my 1998 M1079 A0. I have two Renogy 12v 300Ah batteries and I'm considering adding two more. Those of you that have M1079s, where have you put yours?
I'm considering putting my diesel heater where the original heater was. Where...
I used Liquid Rubber seam tape on all seams on the roof. I coated the roof with three layers of the Liquid rubber. Every screw, bolt on the roof was sealed.
I worry about the marker lights being a source of the leaks. The elephant in the room is of course the windows.
CARA our 1988 M1079A0 has returned from the fabricators. Now I need to chase down leaks in the original habitat. There will be water on the floor but no water anywhere else. Any hints on how to track down the source of the leaks?
I tried a little propane torch just for grins. it helped remove the adhesive on the outside but i wasnt brave enough to try to heat even an entire side of the corner bracker. I was underwhelmed enough by heat that I decided against using a steam cleaner. My steam cleaner has very little pressure...
I've been able to get the tip of a pry bar under one edge slightly. I've been thinking about putting water in an airless paint sprayer to cut the adhesive. 2-3K PSI hopefully will be able to cause the adhesive to slip a little and allow for repositioning of a series of pry bars.
I’m trying to remove a couple of the corner brackets on an S280 to put on the habitat extension of CARA (1998 M1079). They will be purely cosmetic but I think they will visually help tie the extension to the rest of the habitat. I have all bolts removed but the corner brackets appear to be held...
Will the BlueFire work on a 1998 M1079 A0? I am using a GPS speedometer. Will bluefire still work or do I have to put the original speedometer back in?
The speedometer in my 1998 M1079 usually does nothing, sometimes bounces up and down, and even more rarely appears to work. I have highway gears and EcoHubs and was going to replace the speedometer with a GPS speedometer instead of running down the errors and resetting the dip switches. And then...
I made get try cutting a straight cut and using the standard bit. All my Phillips bits are broken. It seems the harbor freight stuff was made of the strongest material known to mankind next to rancid butter.
